 Post subject: 1.1 scale alien egg project now FINISHED pic heavy

Wanted more than 1 egg for an up coming photoshoot and wasn't really happy with the neck egg and also forking out for more than one.
So decided to 3d print half of a perfectly symmetrical egg and make a silicone told that can be joined together. Saving both time and money.
eggs at about 80cm high. Smoothed out the 3d printed egg with a thin layer of resin. Then started the process of adding layer after layer of silicone.

Now there's a good way to make an egg! I can't wait to see what it looks like with both sides completed and attached. How long did it take to print the one side?

Took about a week in total to print in about 4 sections
Made a fibreglass shell for the silicone mould

Love the moulds, I take it you're going to mould the final product as a thin urethane shell with some foam or other kind of filler to make it sturdy?

Eggs are done in black gel coat, fibreglass matt and polyester resin. Talcum powder mixed into resin when needing to thicken it up or make it stick to a obscure surface.

This is some of them finished or nearly finished. 8 and half eggs total were made with the material.
40ltr resin
1.5 ltr MEK hardener
8 ltr gel coat
50 metre roll of fibreglass matt
8 ltr acetone
50 mixing sticks and cups
50 paint brushes
500ml liquid latex
and god only knows how much glue, filler and spray cans

I do. But not just yet. ill have to do it in a flexible rubber or polyurethane so i can fold it. Otherwise ill just cut the flaps off and re glue them open and sculpt the fold

paint with Liquid latex for the white ouster goo skin. then rub with fingers when dry.

Started on an open egg. LV426 chop shop. Just cut the lips off and glue in on an angle and then fibreglassed and body filled the holes.
