The discussion of the Alien series of films and the props used in them is the aim, but if it's got Big Bugs and Big Guns, then they are welcome too!

Looks like I will be going to Singapore in the next couple of months for work. Anything I should make sure to see/do? I was in Singapore a couple years ago for a different company but only got to go out one night for a couple hours. Since I was in automotive at the time everything was rush rush. Since I am now in medical and a key member of this project, I should have more time this trip.

Thanks!

Greg

If you want a trip out and away from built up areas, take a trip to Sentosa; it's a pleasure island with gardens, artificial beaches, a WW2 fortification/military museum and walking paths. Since I was last there, its gained a Universal Studios theme park. Like the rest of Singapore, there is loads of buses (and now a monorail I believe) around the island if you get sick of walking.

The Singapore Zoo is a really good zoo; the Night Safari evening tours are good. Jurong Bird Park is also good if you like birds.

Also in Jurong is "Chinese Garden" and "Japanese Garden"; these are exactly what they sound like and are pleasant for a stroll.

Make sure you get to eat at least once at a urban food court/hawker centre; the best ones seem to be a little out of town in big housing developments. Most have a wide variety of food - obviously: cuisine from the various ethnic groups in Singapore but also surprising things like stalls that do decent Italian food. They are tightly regulated by the government so food hygiene is very good.

I can't really comment on shopping; Orchard Road is obvious. Also there are various malls that specialise in electronics and other interests but It's been nearly 15 years since I lived there so I can't give much advice on the specialists malls other than always haggle.

Thanks for the information! I have been in contact with one of Kris's friends he introduced me to at Celebration Orlando. She is from Singapore and has sent very helpful information. I have looked up Universal information and definitely want to try and squeeze that in. I got my hopes up when I heard the had a SCI FI section of the park till I found out it is Galactica based.

Thanks!

Greg
