The discussion of the Alien series of films and the props used in them is the aim, but if it's got Big Bugs and Big Guns, then they are welcome too!

Tossing a battalion idea out there. Looking at those in the Carolina's, Tennessee, and SW Virginia (and hell maybe even GA if they want it).

Being that I have tended to see and meet quite a few members at events in that general area, I figured I'd see if ya'll wanted to try and do something semi official and form a battalion. Gabe? Gman? Seven? Kowalski? Space Jockey? Others who I forgot but swear I meant no offense? 'Lurkers' who are out there in this region but just been real quiet?

I have no particular inclination toward a ship name nor am seeking any kind of leadership roll (god forbid). Just figured our little cluster of the country could use some charter recognition for whatever it was worth. (Would need to maintain minimum 5 'active' members to be 'official' ).

If ya'll don't want anything official, that is cool too. Will still see everyone around out and about on the road.

For TN I was always wanting a Volunteers Battalion on the USS Andrew Jackson. I need more local members before I can push this though.

I will be doing a one time radio show and when that is done we will have 3 15 minute segments talking about our group and all things aliens, merely a recap of what me and Terran covered at Conapalooza. I am hoping this helps grow the group as I am needing help staffing fan tables.

I am making connections here in Memphis. Looking at starting a squad before we even think about a battalion. I am for a multi state battalion however once get things going. I am not going to over emphasize member availability here till I know more. Looking at attending a local meeting of prop builders in the next few weeks.

Thanks!

Well I didn't want to be in a squad full of Vols anyways! Blue suede shoes and Peyton Manning's forehead aren't screen accurate.
See ya'll in July all the same.

Guess southern VA and the Carolinas will carry it. ...or not?...

I think a battalion that covers the south would be a good idea. Lemme look at the roster to see where we have members in that area.

After thinking about this I agree. I have talked to several members in the area. I was told that a certain marine feels a drift in the Atlanta area.

Thanks!

Just saw this. Hell yeah bigbisont, let's totally start a battalion. This would be a great group, seems like we are all really die hard.
could make a logo.. I could make shirts, or whatever. We could all wear really tall lobe plates on our helmets and fake buckteeth.

Let me digest on state flags and see what I can come up with that is inline with our set of logos. If you all or each have a favorite state flag variant, please, do post it.

The only thing that comes to mind is the TN state flag logo has a star for east, middle, and west tennessee with a red background. So a star for each state and each stripe the color of the state flag seems to be the only thing that comes to mind immediately.

And sitting in front of the fan tables in our rocking chairs with our pulse rifles in our laps!

Good to hear this latest round of responses guys! Train is rolling again.

As for a symbol/flag and ship name, we have the 'delicate' task of identifying something that can represent the southern states...without calling back to the civil war!
A multi state-symbol that is good clean fun that springs to mind is the SEC (South Eastern Conference for college sports). The SEC logo with a colonial marine camo background then squeeze an "M" in there at the end? ("South Eastern Colonial Marines") Just a thought

(I don't believe they ever adopted the serpent into the logo, this may have just been a concept drawing but it conveys the overall theme. Maybe we could even include "South Eastern Colonial Marines" wrapped around the circle like lots of logos tend to do instead of the snake. Or better yet, replace the snake with a chest burster?! AND include the lettering around that.)

I dig the chestburster surround idea. Another idea would be that since hurricanes affect the southeast we could use the simple hurricane spiral that is on evac signs and weather maps in the center

I like the chestburster surround like Ouroboros. If I can ever get the time I"l draw something up. I'll leave the middle blank until we have more ideas. maybe in the midle we have an "X" with a pulse rifle, beer, and two other things around it in the triangles.

Yes, and the elite squad is called the MoonShine Raiders. Tasked with the important task of procuring late night brewskis...

Holly hell I want to go but will not be able to afford it this year. Sorry got tied up this past weekend on the sketch up for the logo. How do you guys want the facehugger? Top down view or from the side? Will have something up by Sunday.

Thanks!

Greg

Playing with some free computer aided drafting software and trying to import the BDU camo pattern. What ship name do we want? According to the charter 7.2 we need a ship name.
Quote:
All battalions must use a ship as their name. Ships used in the movies; IE Sulaco, Nostromo, etc, are not allowed for official battalion names.

Here are the recognized battalions also under 7.2
Quote:
USCM -
USS Columbia -> Washington state and Oregon
USS Colorado -> Colorado, Wyoming, and Idaho
USS TERRAPIN -> Maryland
USS Blackhawk -> Illinois, Indiana, Michigan, Ohio, and Wisconsin
USS Fremont -> California.

Will the ship name be used in the logo?

Thanks!

Greg

So I am trying a new CAD software. Mathematically this is correct. Not for sure as I am going to flesh it out more in 3D. The spacing will be taken up once I start to flesh the letters out. This is just a base so please do not be too harsh but let me know what could be improved.

I am going to mess with shading before I call it a night but I put in some 3D lines. They will not pop unless there is color so I will focus on that.

Alright last one for tonight. I am not happy with the 3D effect on the letters so I will increase it. Still playing with getting BDU colors in and were to place them. I think you get the idea. I will try to add the facehugger in tomorrow or Friday. I have a late night meeting with a supplier in Singapore Thursday so I do not see much getting done between Wednesday and Friday night. Again give your feedback.

ive drawn a sketch, queen facehugger around the circle , like auroboros, beer bottle in the center tilted forward. crossed M41a and flamethrower in the center of the bottle label. next to it are "x" to make an implied "xXx" as in booze. haha
the two "x" on each side will leave space to place initials or other symbols.
