The discussion of the Alien series of films and the props used in them is the aim, but if it's got Big Bugs and Big Guns, then they are welcome too!

Well after 6 years I finally bit the bullet and got the bug kit from Monsterroom! Hopefully soon enough there will be a xeno roaming around the Sacramento/Bay Area conventions!

I’m so excited to finally get to working on this and if anyone has any helpful nuggets of advice please feel free to share.

Give me strength cause lord I’m gonna need it haha

I recently just got my kit too!

I think I've got an idea how I will do most things, but I am wondering if there is a good way to keep the alien head balanced and attached to my own.

Some people have used cheap bicycle safety helmets in the past and attached the latex parts to it.

Wow! I'm shocked at how little fine-detail there is on that thing. Here's a comparison with one of the original heads.

Time they made a new mould I think!

Yeah, the fine details on the smaller tubes in particular have degraded to the point they're barely visible anymore. I'm hoping to raise them a bit more with a layer of latex before painting so they'll be more noticeable.

Well long time no see and better late than never!

I’ve decided to try to finally bust this out and gave myself a deadline of mid next month so we’ll see. Right now I’ve trimmed (dremeled) the flash off of the heads, hands, feet and back bits.

I’ve finally hit a bit of a roadblock with the tubes on the back and figuring out their position/orientation because they just…. Aren’t lining up with the trimming I’ve done.

Currently there’s only one available tutorial with photos I’ve been using as it seems like the others have disappeared so I’ve been trying to find other raw references :(

In the meantime, here’s the head with some roughly pinned on teeth! It still needs a wash and then some filler/repair with liquid latex
