The discussion of the Alien series of films and the props used in them is the aim, but if it's got Big Bugs and Big Guns, then they are welcome too!

Hi all,

I'm keen to knock out a couple of stasis tubes but am wondering about the height and diameter dimensions of the clear tube component. A few of the build threads on here mention about 30cm dia but that seems a bit small. Any thoughts / screen accurate measurements know?

According to the auction listing for the last one sold...

34 inches tall, ~12 inches round. The 3 steel rods used are 26inches.

Love you man! :D

We almost need an Other Props thread, similar to the Found Items one to collect details like this ...

I know BrundelFly made one years ago. There were prints on the net and I have them somewhere but just moved. 30cm diameter seems about right but as Terran said usually an even 12 inches is used here in the states. The hardest part to source is the clear tube. There are some who have used acrylic and others who have used thin clear plastic sheet. Here is a quick dirty version.

Thanks!

Found it. I got a crappy internet connection till later this month so I will try to load these pages. They are from an old article and I downloaded it here.

Thanks!

Greg

Update:

The pages are too big to load to the site. PM me to get them.

I have a kit that I built up years ago. It wasn't a Brundlefly run, but it was made with his help and using the specs he came up with.

Anyone ever find cheap clear tubes to use? I am building one for the fan table and will probably just use the Odin method of flat clear sheet rolled. I would like to find a tube for my display at home. All I am finding are in the hundreds. I know this is why I put it on the back burner years ago thinking the tubing would get cheaper. Guess I was wrong.

Thanks!

Greg
