The discussion of the Alien series of films and the props used in them is the aim, but if it's got Big Bugs and Big Guns, then they are welcome too!

As part of my upgrade to my colonial marine costume I'm trying to reproduce the technical kit Hudson carried.
I have attached the only image I can find of it (from Xenopedia):

From what I can see it is a fabric roll edged with webbing and divided into three sections. Each section has a baseplate that looks to be capped at each end and elastic loops to hold parts in place.
The left section has:
2 x audio connectors
2 x dual core wire leads with circular pad at one end and black croc clip and red banana plug at the other
loose LCD
2 x random bits of metal

The centre section has:
Large red PCB with barrier terminal block (about 5mm pitch)
2 x smaller green PCB with DIP ICs
Large power resistor
3x4 keypad
2 x 5 way FFC cables held down with sticky pads instead of elastic
2 x wire leads terminated with croc clips
wire harness to connect different parts

The right section has:
Jewellers screwdriver set
Red panel mount push button
Short length of thick brown wire with some of the insulation stripped back
Random piece of metal

Does anyone else have any experience of making this kit? Or are there any clearer images around?

It was only fairly recent that it was discovered that image is in fact upside down.

Thanks for posting that. Looks like I didn't go back far enough in searching for other threads on this.
So far I have the three mounting boards with the gold squares just added to one so far and have populated the board on the right in the original upside down photo.
Parts wise I think I have everything I need to make all of the contents except for the two audio connectors that thanks to an inability of an eBay seller to count properly was not in stock when i ordered them but should be with me soon.
The barrier terminal has proven to be annoying. I can't find one with a small enough pitch so I'll have to make it from wood and plastic.

I was planning on starting with this as a base:
Travel Organizer, Cable Bag/USB Drive Shuttle Case/ Electronics Accessory Organizer-Grey

But if Noble's producing the case, I'd naturally MUCH rather have one that he made. :)

Correct, the first thread I linked discusses and offers links to suitable matches :)

Unless Noble chimes in here, might be best to PM him regarding his pouches. I know he was taking interest/orders awhile back which is when he posted those images

Someone feel free to correct me if I am wrong, but weren't these the chest sensor pads for the Seiko pulsemeter watch?

You are correct, they were Seiko Pulsemeter sensor probes. I believe stapleton13 (Stapleton Productions on facebook) offers resin casts of genuine probes to finish off the hack kit.

Thanks for letting me know about the spanners. I was so fixated on the handles that I didn't bother to check on the tool head itself. I've managed to find a really cheap set (£2.95 including UK postage) and ordered it.

Let me post a pict of my collected greeblies tonight.

Making the pouch is easy. I have all materials.

Problem is all the elastic loops....

The way those are installed is a pain. I could supply the elastic, but you would have to cut+weave it through the panels.

It would be a one time run for me.

I pretty much have the end panels covered.

Image

Was thinking of modeling the keypad for Stapleton13, so he could offer castings

The metal bars are inserted into the socket tool body for leverage.

I'm down for a Hudson pouch please Mr Noble....

Yeah, I'd also be down for an accurate keypad. The circuit board is hard to source though....

I have my keypad now. Of course now I've also found out I don't have the red and black wire to run to the croc clips. What I have left is too thick. I'll have to wait until Monday to get something the correct width from work.

That's coming along spectacularly! I never found the LCD screen or the keypad. I'm very curious to see this come together. Personally I don't see how all this stuff can fold up into the thin wallet we see hanging off Hudson's belt. I think they pulled an APC with the interior 8)

I'm still waiting on the webbing to do the edges and retaining strap but I've cut out a cover for the pouch.
Here are the boards inside it.

now we need a door electronics set we can bypass. If memory serves big pressure doors do not always swing they have been known to recess into the wall. Though for cons I wonder how doable it would be to have a rollup garage door that retracts on its side (for space.)

What about something like a set of blinds painted to look metallic? Then we hide someone behind the frame, probably made from thin wood paneling to operate the blind on cue.
