The discussion of the Alien series of films and the props used in them is the aim, but if it's got Big Bugs and Big Guns, then they are welcome too!

I am finding that we have tons of fan Facebook pages. What I would like to know is who has an aliens Facebook page and whose group it is associated with.

I am trying to get a nice list put together so that we can help promote our social media visibility and help grow the member and fan base.

The disconnected nature of the fan pages kills us as there are entire worlds we are unaware of as the Facebook algorhythyms now hide things unless you pay to advertise and promote.

I've seen FB groups kill the membership for a number of forum-based interest groups that I'm a member of. Sadly, those that love social media don't realise that FB groups are a completely shite way of collecting & presenting information, till it's too late.
/curmudgeon rant over :)

Personally, we use our FB group only as a means of keeping in contact with local members.
That said, I'll check and see if it's linked to AL or not.

I completely agree with the human waste aspect of social media. In light of your comment maybe we need to agree and review our rules to prevent what you indicating may happen.

Also, the real intention is to make it easier for our members to keep in touch.

Most people get their info from social media links these days, whilst the old style web based forums like this are definitely dieing.

I think the question should be, how do we go about using social media to help promote us?

As an aside, the only web presence I see for UK Predators, is a Facebook page and they seem to be doing OK for themselves (arguably more so than UKCM :( )

It probably wouldnt hurt to have a master account, either use the established USCM as the main account, then all the division accounts to keep local members in the loop on events

I rather like what the German Colonial Marines do on their FB page, regularly post images from the cons they attend AND stuff about the Aliens films.

That was kind of the hope I had for Facebook, i nice, convenient place to have images immediately posted, until we can get them transferred from a computer to the forum.

Thanks.
For us the facebook page is an extension to the forum. To reach those without an account etc.
This Forum, its archive and community is nothing a facebook page could replace IMHO.

It's so to speak the best of both worlds plus the facebook messenger for staying in touch.

First let us decide on a recruitment video or picture. Then post that to Facebook and lead folks back here. Just make sure that we have the rules regarding vulgarity, profanity, and good behavior well posted and understood by all. We need to be very careful so as to not allow subversive elements to destroy the feel of the forum causing established members to run from it.

Thought's mister SimonT?

See the QR code discuss. We have an enlistment video on youtube.
Couldn't hurt to make another one, sure.

Here is also another one: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C3VVg7U4zqw

Hello there! the all new French fan page
https://www.facebook.com/FRenchColonialMarines/ FRCM
i'm the admin. With some other French fans (Luinsar and Requiem from this forum) we try to make known to the French and internationnal public.
we are only a very small squad for the moment but we hope that we will enlist new french colonial marines very soon.
We will try to post as many pictures of us in conventions as possible and post pictures of our favorite colonial marines from the movie. (sorry if you find some pictures on our facebook page that may appear in this forum...)

Now the other other class of facebook pages would be related groups

And another class cosplayer pages.

You want those two classes listed as it allows easier access to photos, videos and social media posts.

Agree or disagree?

Just chiming in with some info...

The UACM page is admin'd by Dom Baldwin (SGM Baldwin; creator) and me, Melissa Klassen (Moosh89)

Granted, I have yet to post anything myself... I need to think of more things to post so maybe this thread will give me ideas.

One category list for cosplayer Facebook pages. Those that would typically have photos of our group.

Another category list for Facebook fan pages.

Were you thinking of listing any old page on FB, or just pages run by members of this board?
