The discussion of the Alien series of films and the props used in them is the aim, but if it's got Big Bugs and Big Guns, then they are welcome too!

I've had a facehugger model kit for alittle bit. Wondering what colors people have used to paint theirs. I've seen some more whites or yellows, some with flesh tones. Is there a standard or a good guide to go by? Or is it more a matter of lighting and preference like Brown Bess vs. OD?

And those with face huggers how did you display yours? In the specimen tube, crawling?

I had a Halcyon kit back in the 90s which I built up. I painted it to look pail and sickly like the one from the original Alien with the silver 'fingernails', airbrushing some veins and doing an ink wash over it. It looked good and I hung it from the ceiling crawling upside-down on a beam. Unfortunately I do not have any pics and I had to leave it behind when I relocated. I did pick up another Halcyon kit a few months back and have yet to assemble it; I'll likely do the same paint-up and will put foam and a wire skeleton inside so it will hold its shape. Not sure how I'll display it yet but probably crawling with the front two legs raised like on Aliens. I can see it being a tricky build as the underside piece is a little warped as though it was cast that way and I'm hoping that a blast with a hot hairdryer will help it.
Do post some pics when you are building it.

I've built two, the first one wasn't very detail painted, just a coat of skin tone followed by a wash of pink. The second one was WAY more detail painted, I even sculpted a proboscis...gave the whole thing veins, washes, the works. I have a stasis tube so I displayed it in that WITH WATER! You have to give it a coat of polymer to keep it water-proof or else the paint will fall off.

Here are my 2 facehuggers I built back in 92. One painted and based on Aliens, the 2nd, I modified myself to look a little more like the queen hugger not seen in Alien 3. I had done webbing with latex, which has through the years began to rot. Though I think it's kinda cool looking. I added the long nails and spikes down the spine. Though the coloring is not correct. At that time, I only had a behind the scenes glimpse photo to go on. No internet to get good reference.

Not made of resin. These are things I've been seeing with props and kits (we're old) that were made 10+ yrs ago.

It is in the Assembly Cut (which I'd say is the better version) so sure. It'd be like saying the SentryGuns weren't because they aren't in the theatrical cut of Aliens!

Is it the pvc plastic kit that you are refering to? I made a chestburster from this kit. Painted with a golden yellowish brown acrylic and added the blood then blackwashed.
