The discussion of the Alien series of films and the props used in them is the aim, but if it's got Big Bugs and Big Guns, then they are welcome too!

I think they were general water/air tight cases the military uses. Go to gun shows as there is usually a vendor that is selling some.

The War and Peace show is on next month, there are normally hundreds of weapons cases of all types down there

The lid has a very distinctive shape. I haven't seen anything quite like it in Google searches...

Agreed, it seems more likely that they found it, we just don't what "it" was. I read that at least one of the buildings in the large Hadley's Hope model (1/6th scale?) was a redressed shipping container. And of course they used Kango drill boxes painted Brown Bess inside the APC (the ones that fall on Gorman), so they were looking at all sorts of options already.
One nice thing is that the case is on the table beside a whole bunch of things we know the size of, so if someone wanted to mock one up it wouldn't be hard to figure out the dimensions.

Can someone post some screen grabs?

Worked with SKB cases on a project recently, they have been around since early 80's...

Honestly, they look custom made.

They appear to be fiberglass-laid up boxes.

Yeah especially that pic in the bottom right sure looks 'home made'. I don't know though. It looks familiar...maybe I just saw a similar rolling cooler one time. And when stacked up like they often are, they do look mass produced. Hard to say. Would love to have one though.

That middle top photo in Moosh's pic is kind of blowing my mind as you can actually see Sentry Gun components in the box. For some reason I always thought the whole "this box has a Sentry Gun in it" thing was just a movie cheat.

I think the sentry gun boxes are actually no boxes at all, but inserts for transport boxes to prevent the contents to move during transport.
They were probably custom made for a specific cargo (like studio lights for example). This would explain the odd structure with the deep grooves. The rough outer surface would not matter, as it can't be seen when installed inside the actual transport box.

I will need one of these for my auto gun sentry build. I have consigned myself to using a military airtight case for the need and building custom inserts.

Just saw this in Aldi. Similar design that got me thinking.

Too small to modify but still!

Any idea which one? So we could try and find the list of vendors that attended
