The discussion of the Alien series of films and the props used in them is the aim, but if it's got Big Bugs and Big Guns, then they are welcome too!

We've been invited to drop at the Granite City Comic Con, to be held at the Hilton Treetops hotel in Aberdeen.

This event is still fledgling, this being its third year, so a real opportunity to get in on the ground floor and build ties with the event. They also do a pretty good job of raising money for local charities, so a good cause to boot. Details are only pencilled in at this point but so far its looking like:

*We will have display / table space.
*No cap on numbers attending - we will only be limited by room space. (so far)
*Reduced rate hotel rooms.

Word from the organisers is that they'd like us to do our usual bit of working the crowds, keeping people in lines entertained, and possibly a small scripted colony sweep if it can be dont (relatively) unobtrusively.
Hotel based conventions tend to be a slightly different atmosphere to exhibition centre events. A bit more laid back and more opportunity for socialising. Given that its pretty far from most of the UKCM's stomping grounds, we've been offered reduced rates on hotel rooms.

*PLEASE READ AND INDICATE YOUR PREFERENCE ON THE READYLINE*

Due to the hotel having a coach tour stopping off on the Saturday night, we have (at this time) 3 rooms available to be booked. Two doubles and a twin. Preliminary costs will be:
£70 for a sole occupant (May not be possible depending on response)
£35 p/p if sharing 2 to a room
£25 p/p if sharing 3 to a room
£18 p/p if sharing 4 to a room

When adding yourself to the readyline, please also put a number in brackets indicating your preferred number of people in a room. I cant guarantee thatll be the final numbers, but Ill endeavour to find a solution that keeps everyone happy.

2. Big Stew (3)

Beastor, you're more than welcome along with us on the day. Have a look a the census and fill it in if it takes your fancy! =D

I take it that since Aberdeen is your stomping ground you wont need hotel space?

Update for the Granite City Comic Con attendees.

Re: Travel – Stew has looked into hiring cars big enough to take all of us plus gear, and as of now its looking massively cheaper to take the train. Less than £30 return leaving Friday and returning Sunday evening, and that’s from either Glasgow Queen street or Edinburgh Waverly. Tickets are limited though, so get booking quick as you can! Any issues let me know.

Re: Hotels - Ive contacted the organiser to see if there is a booking code or what not, but the rooms will be held for us.

In terms of the Saturday night, do we want to speak to one of the city’s cinemas about an Alien: Covenant showing or do we just want to chill / drink in the hotel?

Just wanted to say it was awesome meeting you guys again, it was great to see peoples reactions (everyone wants to hold the Pulse Rifles!) but I must admit the kids reaction to the Xenomorph was priceless: A mixture of fear and curiosity! (I love how most of them gave a shy wave!)
