hey guys
I got an email back from the company that Tarim-Rex linked to.
Quote:
Regarding your question all of our helmet cameras are 3 inches long and 21mm in diameter. We do NOT sell wireless helmet cameras. The DVR is 4 X 2 X .5 inches. The wire coming from the helmet camera carries the video, audio and
power to both
I just checked my helmet cam and the camera would fit just inside the diameter of the back cap for a pentax lens which is great and the overall length of my cam is a touch over 3 inches.
However, as we all know, the helmet cam has a curved body so the camera from these guys still wouldnt be a perfect fit. If, however, you drilled out the back of the Pentax lens so that the camera was actually flush to the front of the Pentax lens then I imagine it would fit fine. The other option being to cut an extra hole in the helmet so that when the camera starts to protrude from the housing it goes inside the helmet a little. The first option would be my preference.
Anyway, it looks like this camera could be used with some slight modding to your M1 Helmet camera.
The DVR unit that comes with it is small enough to fit into the little pouches that MAA sells as cigarette pack holders also. So the fact that it is not a wireless camera shouldn't be a problem.
Cheers
Darren
