The discussion of the Alien series of films and the props used in them is the aim, but if it's got Big Bugs and Big Guns, then they are welcome too!

So right off the bat I have to give props to Dropshipbob for doing this exact project way before me:

viewtopic.php?f=3&t=16028

I wanted one of these puppies from the first time Willie pointed it out a few years back, but I didn't know how to go about finding one. Well, Moosh mentioned she had a spare so I made her an offer and now it's mine! I got some stencils made at the same time as Moosh is awesome at these.

I gave it a coat of grey and then weathered it with charcoal and matte spray. The irony is that the thing was already pretty weathered, but once I painted it grey it looked too pristine for a tool box. I added one of Willie's awesome WY stickers, but I'm not sure it is the right size for this prop. When I look at screengrabs of the one in Operations the carry handle is less wide than the tops of the light grey Y on the sticker. On mine the handle is even with the far edges of the yellow W. But that's a monor quibble.

I've only just begun decorating the inside, but finding "space tools" is fun! I've got a few more bits to add and I want to find a good blueprint for either the colony or the processor.

What else should I add?

If you can build sth like the hacking device from Alien: Isolation that would also be cool:

https://ilikeinterfaces.files.wordpress ... -55-49.png

Other stuff I could think of being in there:
-WY coffe mug
-big ol wrench, maybe also the one from Alien Isolation
-some screw driver with bits

Cool project. I feel like some sort of electronic diagnostic device is needed. Maybe nothing as elaborate as a 'hack kit' but something with a screen and some interface cables for sure.

Here it is dirtied up. I still need a piece of tinted plastic for the screen and maybe a few other small details. Maybe a CAT logo sticker... What do folks think?

Great tool box idea. The civvie version welder looks great.
If you do a CAT logo I would say only a ver small one already damaged matching the overal weathering.

Now only a civvie headset and a civvie belt tool. ;)

Thanks folks!
I've just found a good substitute for the glass screen, and I may give the thing a two tone repaint. We'll see!

Latest additions to the toolbox!

The flare box is a little project Graham and I are working on. It isn't the exact box used in Alien3, but it's close enough for this.

I repainted the welder and added the "glass" (actually a piece of an old cassette tape cover and a disposable pair of sunglasses I found on the beach).

I'm still planning to go two tone with the paint job though.

Very interesting, I've not played A:I but that 'hacking device' is clearly modelled after PRC90 [or similar] radio -

This reminds me though of Apone's line about the colonist's using seismic survey charges (or somesuch). It would be fun to extrapolate from this prop and make a box of those too!
