This Friday is my birthday, and therefore the two year anniversary of starting on this metal armour quest. I'm determined to have something to show for it, even if I am bringing up the rear panting and sweating behind Schotti and Bigbisont who both flew past me to the finish line months ago
Actually, Neil and Terran have been HUGE helps in getting me this far and beyond. I love the spirit of cooperation and unity this group has!
So first off, here is a shot of my painted (but unweathered) armour. I have always used an olive drab base coat, but I decided to take a risk and use a more kelly green, trusting that my weathering process would pay off:

I used the photos of Frost's armour as my general painting guide. I then used artist's charcoal to dull the whole thing down and give it a battle-worn look. Here it is after a fresh coat of matte finish (the shine is from just having applied the spray):

I'd saved one of Mike Rush's name stencils from back when I did my plastic armour, and boy oh boy did I fight with it to get the paper off. After I used it the stencil cracked into about twenty pieces and I had to pick them off with an exacto knife. Lesson learned there! The camera did a funny fish eye thing there, I swear the stencil isn't actually crooked.

I still need to mount the shoulder lamp brackets and drill for the kidney plate, as well as add graffiti.

Almost done with this thing! Those nice shoulder tabs were courtesy of Bigbisont, and Schotti just sent a shipment of pretty much all the other metal bits I need. All that will be left in plastic are the pauldrons (these are Chef's) and the leg armour (Spat's), but replacing those will be out on the horizon a bit.
