The discussion of the Alien series of films and the props used in them is the aim, but if it's got Big Bugs and Big Guns, then they are welcome too!

Its just one of those costumes that has to be done. I have finally made a start on it, well ive finished quite a bit of it
Ive finished the Smartgun itself.

Vest and headset finished

Im currently in the process of making the Steadicam vest and arm copying the screen used ones as closely as possible and practical, its probably going to work out more expensive than the cheap Steadicam vests you can get on ebay for £270 but it will be far more accurate.

That's really nice, man 8)

Could you please post some more detail pics into your [dirty, dirty] Photo bucket? I've love to see close-ups of around the drum mag (and how the cover is attached), the foregrip post and of the pistol grip area.

Looking great! :delta:
Good luck with your vest build!

Is this a static counter or does it actually count?

Ill get some more detailed pics up tomorrow

Its an Airsoft MG42. Real AR125 hangers and GPZ switchgear. Steel front and rear grip tubes. Plastic drum mag cover, trigger box, camera and hand guard. Alloy flash hider.

As this has lights and sound (sound through 4x 20w amps) the counter is connected to the battery pack to keep a check on the power.

No its not remote controlled, it works from either the red fire switch on the grip or the brake lever, I just wedged a remote in the hand guard to keep the lever up while filming.

Any chance of seeing this in action (e.g. @ Alien Encounter)?

I'll have to get some info from you about your speaker setup. 4x 20W amps, how loud is that? And what's the power source?

*edit* Heh, and I still need to rig up a release cable one of these days. I've had the cable and ring for years, just need to swage some pins onto it and make the posts for them to slot into.

Ive used 20watt voice amps like the Aker ones. Striped 2 down and got one in the drum mag, cut the front of the mag out and fitted a 4" speaker grill. Ive put the other in vertical tube that sits just in front of mag on the bottom of the gun. The other 2 will be behind the chest plate when I've done it, ive used the connectors and wires that hang from the gun as the speaker feed cable to the chest plate. The amps all have there own rechargeable power pack.

Yeah I was going to have a boot knife but just know it would end up dropping down my leg or falling off so thought of something that would fit in with the look.
