The discussion of the Alien series of films and the props used in them is the aim, but if it's got Big Bugs and Big Guns, then they are welcome too!

To avoid derailing the thread here: http://forum.alienslegacy.com/viewtopic.php?t=2357 where a potential UKCM recruiting poster was discussed - let's hear your thoughts on how it should go.

Mods, you can delete some post on the other thread I guess ('cept my first if that's alright). :)

I do artwork if you can think of anything...

Poster artwork a speciality... ;) ;)

At the moment I can't commit but I'm going to pull-out all the stops for this. Having seen the Alien Encounters DVD, this should be fun! :)

Is it a full 'weekender'?

Mark :)

What would it take for you to do a recruiting poster along the same lines, though? Since I'm pretty sure everyone here that bought a PR poster would take one of those, too.

Eagle wrote:
^ It's a possibility although character design/illustration isn't my forté. I could use photos of UKCM Marines however, but they'd need to be good quality and very hi-res. :)

I'm thinking something posed like this...

I could work something around that. :) This'll be a 'not-for-profit' if we can share the load on the printing costs. :)

Thanks for the offer Eagle,

THe M41a posters would come in handy as spot prizes and if your up for doing I recruitment poster that would be great. as an artist myself I could probably help you come up with something.

As for the photo, i have been dying to set up a phot like that for ages. Just never been able to manage it.

Maybe use some/one from previous Cons?

The bottom of the image is cut off/black, but there in the thumbnail. :?

Another good one:

I could certainly use them but as I mentioned they'd need to be around 20 inches wide at 300dpi to stand any chance of looking good on the poster. :)

I can supply you with the original photos no problem.

We are at Collectormania in Glasgow at the end of the month however, so if there is any particular "shot" that would look good and be useful there will be quite a few of us there and we can sort something out.

I think something along the lines of the cast photo shown above would be good but it depends on what sort of design this poster is going to be.

Cheers

Darren

How many pixels would an image like that have to be?

My digicam (Casio Exilim EX-S500) does 2560x1920.

That's about 8"x6" at 300 dpi. We could 'cuff' it and sharpen the image at larger sizes I suppose but a bigger original image would be better if possible. :)

Already working on getting us a 'droid.
Might be able to convince my boss to stand in as Burke, too, if I buy him some beers.
Anyone got a windcheater and shirt? ;)

Hi Gents,
Watching from the sidelines. Would this photo help you with your recruiting poster? This is a pic of your UKCM liaison officer after a hard nite of celebrating a successful drop at Dcon 06. After all, part of being a Colonial Marine consists of post drop drills and your man Pete is very skilled with these tasks. Love to see this used in the poster

Image

If this doesn't work out, I'm sure Pete would be happy to pose for a more current pic during Dcon 07.

Mike

Just a thought, there is the big group shot from then end of the last NSC event,
Would that be any use for the poster?

Anyone have good reference for the UKCM delta?

Eagle I think we need to hook you up with the folks who took loads of photos like this.

I know Gary (Prof. Carabus) Sheriston took some, and the UKG have a photographer; Nick Rycroft who also took some.

I'm sure they'd be happy to talk with you about using their work for the project.

Harry

Those shots aren't mine, I'm afraid. I've got some that were taken at the same time but I was standing some way to the right of the photographer. I've just sent Nick Rycroft a message, hopefully he'll read it and get in touch soon...

Nice one, thanks Prof.!

I've seen Nick at events with his swanky camera so it's a safe bet the original images will be nice and large. Fingers crossed he'll let us use one for the poster! :)

Ok guys, give me something to make a start with... you know your organisation better than I do!

• Heading / Title
• Main text (keep it short)
• Any small print / details
