The discussion of the Alien series of films and the props used in them is the aim, but if it's got Big Bugs and Big Guns, then they are welcome too!

Hi All,

Is there any science to who wore what insignia wise?

I'm ordering some CHEF BDUs and I want my insignia to be interchangeable between USCM
and UKCM... So Velcro mounted... Also easier for laundering... Etc...

So Chef correctly pointed out that it's EITHER the Ship/Rocker patch OR the Delta on the left breast pocket...

Apone and Hicks Carry the Delta as I recall... As does Drake on his Flak Vest...

Hudson and Vazquez carry the ship and rocker as do Dietrich and Ski and I presume Crowe and Frost...

Any specific hints from you guys?

Personal preference?

Usually the delta was on ncos or non commissioned officers. So how I do it, is if I had a rank on my uniform, I throw the delta on. Plus then you could also make the delta removable between the US and UK delta.

Just an idea

From a real world perspective the flag tends to be a 'must have' for most militarys these days, especially US troops.

I personally don't care for the delta (US or UK)

Thanks Mike...Thanks a Reaper.... That's what I figured... What are your thoughts on Drake having a Delta? Just an anomaly?

I think I'll go for 'run of the mill'... Ship and rocker... Might stick a delta on a baseball cap...

I don't think the costume department actually thought that hard about it.

It was probably just what they could put their hands on first.

I mean, there are pictures of Apone without ANY Delta or Rocker and then others with the Delta on!

Apone with...

Apone without. (yes you could claim it's being hidden by his sleeve, but I'd have thought you might just see the top of it poking out).

So I wouldn't think too hard about it.

Personal preference is always the way!

Cheers Chef...

I agree that second shot of Apone doesn't seem to have anything on the left breast pocket...

I've always wondered what the little blue and white square was on then peak of his cap...

I love the SULACO patch on the cap thing... Deffo going for that look! With sleeves rolled up and shirt untucked... ;-)

If you don't want to be associated with the Sulaco (but don't have an an alternate ship patch) then the Delta helps quite a bit.

Personally I find the ship patch and rocker too iconic to skip. They help anchor the costume in people's minds.

I'll be going with the SULACO patch and rocker... Like you say, too iconic... :-)

Thanks Harry... I had seen that thread but I'm not sure it managed to specifically nail it down... The good thing is that it shows that a 5 panel snap back should do!

Same here, I love the SULACO patch plus rocker, and the Delta was only something "special" characters wore. Still, I like the Delta's design and just put that on a black baseball cap that I can wear when my helmet gets too heavy.

This is my situation 100%. I intentionally do not seek the association with the Sulaco as I like to think of my 'character' as a typical, but seperate, grunt that was not on that ship. Being that I have no variant ship patches, it was a no brainer to go 'delta' all the way.

However, for the wifey's kit, I went with the Sulaco & rocker because, as everyone else said, it is so iconic and hers actually was more of a "Vasquez costume" than an attempt at something new.

A custom U.S.S. Conrad patch let me keep the iconic look while still being different:
