The discussion of the Alien series of films and the props used in them is the aim, but if it's got Big Bugs and Big Guns, then they are welcome too!

I second the "Did he actually send that pic?!" query - Since if he did, it's "Terminate with extreme prejudice" time!
To the "Report Abuse Of eBay"-mobile, if so.

Great idea Dave. Maybe Spat can make some "Boob Armor" just like they have in Star Wars for Sith Vixen. We DO have some hot babes on this board

That's not a problem. Though do you want them to look like those cheap LA grapefruit boobs that are on that Fett suit above? Or would you want them to look more natural?

Ok although I have nothing against women umm... glorifying their God given attributes, I do have to say I would rather not see it with USCM armour.

I feel we would begin down the slippery slope of "parodies" of ourselves. Boob armour, then Elvis Colonial Marine, Hippy Colonial Marine, Indiana Jones Colonial Marine, Pink Panther Colonial Marine... the list is endless.

Although EU costumes are OK (the Platoon wouldn't have a PIG gunner without them Image ) they can sometimes detract from the core of our group: re-creating the fictional military from the movie Aliens.

At Polaris there were a lot of EU style uniforms: for instance a set of armour painted OD green with bright red shoulder bells (reminded me of Fett armour).

Techwolf had a set of armour that was totally painted gray. The thing is that when I looked at it, all that came to mind immediately was "Starship Troopers" not USCM. Especially since it was coupled with a Nerf Longshot painted gray and black (looking almost identical to a Morita).

Honestly I don't have a problem with diversity; it can be a good thing. But not when it begins to drop into the realm of sillyness like "Boob Armour".

I mean next thing you know we will see a guy walking around in GD banana camo BDUs with friggin yellow tigerstripe armour! Image

Oops! Did I just say that? Image Image

That's ok as long as you carry an MG-34 and wear a full head airsoft facemask painted gloss white as well. Image

Pimp Marine...

You know I saw the pic of the grey armored marine with the nerf and immediately thought it was a trooper until I made the pic bigger.

But seriously folks... unless you dress as one of the onscreen marines, you're EU. Just... please don't start talking like that Star Wars costuming group. It's... pretty damn annoying, honestly.

Yeah, yeah... I know, I know.

I'm the last person to start spouting about armour being accurate or not since I made my set out of hockey gear. And the references I made to the armour at Polaris were not meant as derogatory. I was just saying I saw a lot of gear that is EU. And by no means was I saying that we should start some kind of accuracy code.

What I'm talking about is the realm of ridiculousness. Like a Stormtrooper with a big old afro wig. Or a Captain Jack SparrowTrooper.

It's hard enough getting people to recognize us when we are attempting to look like USCM. The average con attendees just don't "get it". You hear "Starship Troopers", "G.I. Joe", "Stargate" even "Space Marine". These days when I say I dress as a Colonial Marine I get asked, "From the new Battlestar Galactica?"

On the rarest of occasions someone says "ALIENS! I LOVE THAT MOVIE!"

When we had the discussion about a flag for the parade- this is kind of what Joe Ranger was talking about when he said it should maybe have something with the word "Aliens" written on it (and was subsequently chastised for that as well).

But you guys do whatever you makes you happy. I was just voicing my opinion- not like I have any pull or anything.

Let's see some armour with tits. Maybe you should put some nipples on it too Spat.

And the banana comment was a joke for crying out loud! Dom knows me well enough I hope. Image

The one big issue we have as Colonial Marines is being recognised.

Rex and I spoke about this after last years parade and were thinking of ways to be recognised rather than called as Kev said 'GI Joe or Space Marines'

I think the best idea we came up with was Alien heads on sticks.
I mean.....what else are those AvP masks good for?

We don't want to go too EU when people still don't really know who we are and what we are from.
We work damn hard to look good, and it shows.
Average Joe on the street just needs to get it ;)

I reckon any of us who wears personalised armour in the style of the movie marines is just as likely to be recognised as any of us wearing armour patterned on an accurate design... Except maybe Hicks or Hudson.

Could any of you tell me off the top of your heads what Crowe, Frost or Wierzbowski had on their gear? I doubt many will be able to.

I'm unsure about the "Aliens" logo idea.
IMHO, if we have a few Aliens heads, the odd stuffed facehugger on the table, that's more than enough of a hint at what we're from.
And when we're on the move away from the table... Well, a banner with the movie logo's no use then anyway, is it?
I'd say the 7' cockroach is more of a clue.

Crowe: wings with "The Bird" written between them.

Frost: white heart with arrow through it and the name "Heath".

Wierzbowski: pair of dice on front, Spam In A Can with large drawn SPAM key on back, and "Spare Weapon" above crotchplate.

How's that for annoying? You want anyone else's? Image Image

Oh yeah- Dietrich had "Blue Angel" on her helmet and a pair of lips with "Kiss My" on her buttocks. She also had a Do Not Enter symbol on her undershirt.
