The discussion of the Alien series of films and the props used in them is the aim, but if it's got Big Bugs and Big Guns, then they are welcome too!

Making great progress here and loving it. This is very much like my very first armor build, but one big difference. Or...I guess I should say one very small difference

Lots of flower pots and some 'found' items. Of course I will update as things progress!

YEP! 8)

Thanks guys! I got some great work knocked out this week.

I am going a tiny bit simplified on the body armor. He'll like outgrow the main body pieces before he gets a chance to wear it twice, so I am not going toooo crazy. But I got it riveted together.

I think I am going to go with the "Hicks" angle when I paint it up. I will trompe l'oeil the ridges and details in when I paint it up too.

I've put quite a bit more work into the helmet since he won't outgrow that instantly. I should have decent pictures tonight.

The main thing is he actually thinks its cool (whew!!! Thats a relief!) so the fun continues!

Glad he didn’t just wanted "to get out of that ch*ck sh*t outfit".
Again great job on the costume and on the recruitment.

Yeah, I have the same problem too. Too cute for my own good!

So anyways, the upgraded helmet is nearly done.

Key bits here are a 2x $6 kids 'army helmet' items from any Halloween section, a set of old 'on-ear' earphones, a pen, and other crap I find laying around that I can cut up and apply with liquid nails, and of course the smaller 24mm Pentax lens.

Tomorrow morning before the drop I'll hit the flea market and hit him a little suction dart pistol-grip shotgun and we are ready to roll!
(He does have Grieves, not pictured, but I skipped the ab-pad and cod piece. No reason to make using the restroom any harder for a 3 year old than it has to be!)

The funny thing is he'll make your sister-in-law look seven feet tall, (kinda like SRS did with putting his kids in mini space suits in Alien).

Great work my friend!!

Finishing off this thread here with some action shots.

I finished up the rest of the "Hicks" look with the armor. Maybe in 5 years when he actually watches the movie he will say "OHHHH...yeah, awesome".

I was a proud pappa that day! Well, I'm always proud, but just saying. He did great and had a lot of fun.

This last one is when he ran out of gas. Its just so surreal that I love it. Armor is not really meant for hugging, so had to hand him off to momma.

Nice work mate.
It’s great to see that you managed to turn this into an adventure for the whole family.
Does your son even have his own Dog tag?

Yes he does! And he actually loves em. I showed them to him a a couple weeks ago and he started wearing them all the time. We had to put an end to him bringing them to preschool because they became a distraction and he wanted to twirl them around...

You really paid much attention to details. And as a result a happy family.
Well done.

Thanks a ton everyone.

Def the most fun I have had in a while with any project. The helmet I think will stick around a while. I guess time and growth will tell how long the armor fits. Hopefully we can get a couple more uses out of it!
