The discussion of the Alien series of films and the props used in them is the aim, but if it's got Big Bugs and Big Guns, then they are welcome too!

I just wanted to ask a quick question about a site i have stumbled upon.

http://resin-movie-reproductions.com/

Has anyone bought from this site or heard anything about them? I just wanted to make sure they weren't a bunch of pirates before i spend any money.

My main reason for asking is that i am interested in there M240 Flamethrower kit

NO!!!!!!!

That seller is global_uplink, well known recaster.

Along with recasting, his stuff is also really badly made with allot of airbubbles and crumbly resin, you'll spend more making the kit look good than you actually paid for it. Plus he's actually based in South Africa.

I'm speaking from experience. AVOID

Spat is working on a flamthrower so I'd wait for that or post up a WTB thread and see if anyone can help.

Thank you so much for the help. That is sort of what i was fearing when i looked at the props he was selling but wanted to make sure.

I would much rather pay a bit more for a prop and get it from a genuine source than fund a recaster

I didn't know Spat was working on one but i can just bet it's going to be awesome. Might just wait and buy one of those when there ready.

I'd be more worried if you didn't see him that way. He's a bad man.

GermanGhosthead: there is another fantastic flame thrower on the market made by Morgan13. Pricey, but very well made.

Or you could follow this idiot and make your own:

No, but always ask on here first, just to check. :)

While there isnt a 'black list' per say, there are 3 big ones that most people around here know off the top of their head.

-Global uplink (as discussed) & Golden Armour are the most famous 'recasters'

-The 3rd guy isn't a 'recaster', but he is a very rude dealer who often misrepresents his listings. He changed his ebay handle multiple times so I don't know his name now (auctionsherpa & auroraproject were his names when I last noticed him). If you see an overprice ebay item that brags it is the "first time ever on ebay!!!" (with exclamation points everywhere) then that is probably him. Come to the board and we will help you locate the actual source of the prop, because he didn't actually build it. You will save a lot of money going to the original source.
His biggest thing is outright lies about what he sells (wrong model items claimed as screen accurate items, common canteen straps claimed as screen accurate slings, other people's props he claims as his own custom builds). A couple members have sent innocent inquiries about items only to receive profanity laded rude responses back. Reselling things he buys at a markup is his right, but the misrepresentation (often outright lies) of many of his items and hoooorrible attitude make him one to avoid.

Golden armor stuff was raw and completely unfinished. I had to learn how to do everything as I was doing it. As everyone says, know your suppliers ahead of time.
