The discussion of the Alien series of films and the props used in them is the aim, but if it's got Big Bugs and Big Guns, then they are welcome too!

So for a few months I keep seeing this USCM armor from a guy in Canada pop up on eBay. What are the reactions to it?

Obviously, due to forum rules about posting, I won't list it. Was just wanting a good... feel for it.

Please don't tell me you're seriously thinking about buying that set?

I remember seeing that stuff and like Spat and DSW I would not give even a second of serious thought about buying it.

What a POS! Save your money and put it towards a set of Spat's. I would be freakin' embarrassed to wear that crap at a con. This is from a Canadian. Oh by the way, I'm NOT on the Spat payroll

If that set of armor was more that $50, it's a waste of money. You can buy a sheet of Sintra and cut and bend that armor yourself for less.

And we would all respect you a lot more if you actually made bad armor yourself, rather than paid someone else for it.

And don't worry, Nick, I have Sintra here, left over from a set of Fett armor I made years ago, so I'll be sending you a set of armor that looks just like that Canadian set instead. And don't worry about a refund, it'll be the same price.

:)

I'm going to make some from white cardboard; that way I can colour it in with my felt pens and wax crayons to make it look proper L33T!

...and the Canuck guy even got Doug to model the armour for him...although Doug is looking a bit rough these days...FX work seems to have had a nasty effect on him.

Are you just joking Kev or did he actually send you that picture. I can't believe he would be that cheeky given how obviously crappy looking his armour is.

I personally don't see an issue with his armor.

Its basic, VERY flat and will require a lot of work.

Spat's......well that arrives ready to wear.
This arrives ready to be worked on :)

But....to be honest you could work on it for hours on end and it will still be just as flimsy and frail as it looks in the pic.

I did get a chuckle when he said you could use velcro to add it to your outfit. Velcro? What, like it's Fett armor or something?
