Looks like a copyright infringement to me.

Rudy Ratzinger (AKA Wumpscut) has been using it for decades. There's an interview from 5 or 6 years back where he talks about it:

What he doesn't fess up to (or doesn't know) is that the WY logo is stenciled in Alien3 in a much more simplified form on the backs of shirts and cargo containers etc. and *that* logo is identical to what he uses.
