The discussion of the Alien series of films and the props used in them is the aim, but if it's got Big Bugs and Big Guns, then they are welcome too!

Sounds good. You just KNOW you want to do pushups while you hear me yell:

Has anyone thought about a banner for the front of our group in the parade ?
I was thinking about doing one, I just don't know if I will have time with all the costume stuff I have to put together.
I am thinking something that two people in the front of the line would carry.
Like Fal and I did last year.

Ok boys and girls - flight booked

Anyone here used the MARTA before?
If so, how easy is it and how long does it take to get from your arrival flight to the con using it?

Now FYI the last 2 years I've been down to confirm the fan table Friday morning rather early.
I think last year Pete and Dave were down there also
You need to make sure someone is down there to get the table nice and early, about 8am in the norm.

I'll see you all later Friday night or at the parade Saturday.

The Marta is great. It's only a couple bucks and about a 15 minute ride from the airport.

Joe was wearing a flightsuit last year and got the same treatment.

It's funny...

Sometimes in the Hyatt, I've worn a Marines t-shirt with my BDU pants. Occasionally I get asked if I am really in the Marines.

And what do I get to say?

No Ma'am... I'm not even an American. :?

I was sat in Heathrow (London) with my BDU pants on and everyone nodded to me and I got asked if 'I was going home'
I eventually realised and set the record straight.

As far as riding for free.......I have by no means earned it so I'll happily set the record straight there to ;)

The real question should be...

Do military pilots even WEAR their flightsuits when not on base/on duty? :)

I'm pretty sure the flightsuit can be worn as a "work" uniform with a wedge headdress- of course you wouldn't wear it off duty.

The MARTA staff must be very patriotic (in a good way).

Chris-

I hate having to say something like that! I end up answering soooo sheepishly- like I ate the last cookie or something.

Speaking from the American side of the militaria, you'd be surprised, hehe. Officers are typically expected to wear their service khakis when travelling in uniform, but I've seen flightsuits off-base from time to time, especially if they're on "detachment" in the area (i.e. not locally stationed). Running a quick errand, going from one place of duty to another, etc etc. It's not done all that often, but it's not prohibited either.

And besides, when you're on a Drop, you ARE on duty, right? ;)

No, Acording to the USMC Dress Code (yes there is one) BDU's are not to be worn in a Civilian based enviornment. This uniform is considered your "work" uniform and is a poor representation of what the Marines are supposed to look like. Of course there are a few exceptions, ie stoping for gas/going through the drive through at mcdonalds, but other than those types of situations its a big nono. Hell the USMC has a dress code for what you should be wearing while in civilian clothes......

So I know there's the INSANELY early muster for the parade on Saturday. What other events are there for the Legacy folk?

We're doing the "Colony Sweep" on Saturday as well.

Check here for an example:

Colony Sweep: Polaris 2007

Right now it is set for 2pm- however that might change.

Traditionally it has been around 4pm on Saturday- I requested the earlier 2pm timeslot so I could participate in a DC vs Marvel event that was supposed to be at 4-4:30 on Saturday (in my Wolverine costume).

Except now that group is talking about changing the time to 2pm as well! :?

I have third event I'm expected to be at around 7pm (in my Robin suit). As it stands- I would have to be USCM for the Parade, change into Wolverine for the 2pm gig, change back into USCM for the Colony Sweep (which can now be back to 4pm as usual SOP), and then change again into my Robin suit for 7pm.

F--K THAT NOISE! I AIN'T CHANGING FOUR FRIGGIN' TIMES IN ONE DAY!!!

If the DC vs Marvel group is definitely going to be at 2pm- I'll pass. I'll be USCM pretty much all day. We can do the sweep at 4pm- and I'll change into my Robin costume afterward. 8)

I'll keep you guys posted.

Now those of you who were at the Hard Rock last year on Saturday saw the big guy who Cherie and I were with attempt to attach an Alien tattoo to the waitress' cleavage in front of the kids table.

Please for the love of all that is holy, if he asks where the USCM guys/gals are doing dinner state it is a forum members only event.
We're doing our best to avoid him th is year due to the $%^$%^&#$%^ embarrasment he put us through in 2006.

MEMBERS ONLY!!!
He doesn't know who is and isn't a member, just make sure he knows he is not welcome.
Hate to be mean about it, but......well........I've never been so embarrassed in my entire life!!

That being said, be around the fan table mid to late afternoon and we'll sort out where and when.
MEMBERS ONLY!!

Who's room is he staying in? How's he getting to the con this year?

Yeah if you want to see a HUGE man attempt to lick the skin off a hapless victim (right down to the DNA)- let him tag along.

Guess this guy's on the Blacklist.

BWAHAHAHAHA!

OK Kev, looks great you can be a Colonial Marine for the day. I look forward to dying gloriously with you at the end of the sweep.

Have we got a party room booked for one of the nites? That would be cool to have our own USCM party room and invite all the USCM groupies.
Your thoughts fellow Marines?

Mike
