The discussion of the Alien series of films and the props used in them is the aim, but if it's got Big Bugs and Big Guns, then they are welcome too!

Some of you will already know as apparently Trevor's wife Alison announced on Facebook, that Trevor suffered a stroke on Saturday.

I visited Trevor today, Alison said he's improved since then but after seeing him, I'm sad to report that he's still in a serious condition.
He's pretty much lost all movement on his left side and his face has dropped a bit, too, slurring his speech. From what I can gather he can't see on his left side as well right now.
Despite all this he's in good spirits and was still able to tell a couple of dirty jokes. If you've met Trevor then you'll know what I mean. With this guy, the last thing to go would be his sense of humour.

He's expected to be in hospital for at least six weeks. At this point it's to early too predict his recovery but he's a very strong man and he'll do his best to fight his way back to normality as much as he can. It goes without saying that everyone hopes Trevor can make a full recovery. He had a couple of stunt men there today, family and friends, etc, his wife Alison will be going over there every day so he'll have company, so in that respect he's fortunate. The hospital is in Essex, 35mins from central London on the train. If you want to visit him, or send him something, shoot me a PM and I'll give you the address/details. He'll be ok for half an hour but then probably doze off. I know he'd be glad to see anyone from the AL or UKCM. It may be best to leave it a week when he's gained more strength, I can check with Alison to be sure. Or if you know her send her a message on Facebook and see what she says.

In the meantime, I'm going to take a card over there on Saturday, I thought it might be cool to all sign it. I think somebody did something similar before, like scan in or photograph your name and a message, I'll comp them together and print them out on a large card with the AL logo, etc. I think that would go down a treat and give him some encouragement.
Just paste them in to this thread or email me: adc@newroadfilms.com

Or maybe just type a message in this thread, I guess that will be fine and I'll print them out and assemble them. Maybe that's more practical.

ADC

Thanks for posting this ADC. I'm glad that he's in good hands now and that he's cracking a gag here and there.

Keep us posted when you hear more, and I know you'll give him all the best from all of us here on the Legacy.

Thanks for letting us know, ADC. That's horrible news :(
An idea though - How about video messages for Trev?
Anyone interested could record a short clip, and send you a Dropbox link, if you or someone else who's visiting would be happy to collate and show him?

Good idea. If people can do that, use their phones, etc – worry not about the video quality - then I can put together something he might enjoy.
In which case I'll give everyone until next Wednesday, so there's a bit more time for people to see this post.

Edit: Can people do this in costume (if you have one)? Let's try and make this a Colonial Marine thing while we're at it.
Still want a video message if you're not a marine of course.

Scapey: that's an awesome idea!

ADC: thanks for getting right on top of this and keeping us informed. I'll try to throw a video together (in uniform) ASAP to show some support from the colonies. Hospitals suck.

Top man, sounds great. :) The more videos we can get, the better.

Any kind of video is ok, doesn't need to be shot on a camcorder – use your phone, web cam, whatever. Don't worry about the quality. Content is king.

Saw FB posts about Trev being in hospital, didn't realise it was so serious. :?

Ta for letting us know ADC.

Will scan my signature/message tomorrow and post it in here. Will see about doing a vid too.

Edit: Should this be moved to the Ready Line? Just for more exposure, but also it is Aliens related.

Thanks guys, will do. Keep the greetings coming. Taking a card in to him with your well wishes this Saturday.

Since he will be in hospital for six weeks I thought it best to get the video done for Saturday 15 March, should be plenty of time to get a video message to him. So grab your phone, webcam or camcorder and try and get your clip to me by Thursday 13 March.

Cheers,
ADC

Sad news. :(

Even though I've never met him, I find it amazing that not only is he in one of our all time favourite films, but also he has become part of this community. 8)

So here's hoping for a speedy and full recovery for the big man.

Martin

Any idea how long he suffered the stroke prior to getting medical attention? If it wasn't too long hopefully they were able to destroy the clot quickly...that will go a long way to his recovery.

His son found him in bed, asleep, as he was having the stroke. Medics got there quick so, it made a big difference. I was told that because his boy Harry, (who's only twelve) found him at that time and rang 999, they're pretty sure he saved his life. So that gives you an idea of how serious it was/is.
As you suggested Matt, hopefully he will make a strong recovery because of that.
