I have been getting a few emails and PM’s about SD Studio Pulse rifles so I thought I would post everything that I know about them. I don’t consider myself an expert on the subject by any means but I have had several conversation with SteveD about them and am the proud owner of the first one ever sold. I will add more interesting things as I remember them.

• Original cost was $4100.00 which included shipping
• First run of 13 guns was in 1996
• About 35 guns total were produced under the SD Studios name
• Shrouds were painted OD green and not the screen accurate Humbrol Brown Bess.
• First run and some of the second run of rifles used steel receivers
• The shroud is vacuum formed plastic not fiberglass
• The gun is very hard to pickup and hold with one hand
• Weight of PR with steel receiver is about 17lbs with aluminum receiver 15lbs
• Cheapest price I have seen one sold for was $1800.00 most was $5000.00
• They can be completely stripped and reassembled just like a real gun.
• If you pick one up by the top handle the shroud can break.
• When the bolt is released the gun twists in your hands!

I used to have one. I never had any problems holding mine by the carry handle. Granted I never exerted any force on it, but you could hold it just fine. I am not sure what you mean about the bolt flying forward and twisting your hand though? Are you talking about your finger in the ejection port getting mauled by the bolt face?

I don't mean to brag but I could hold mine out with one hand for a bit. There's no practical purpose in doing so. Holding or even shooting any shoulder fired weapon in such a fashion serves no purpose.

The toggle switch on my magazine actually broke and I had to goto RadioShack for a replacement and install a new one.

My rifle was one of the 2 or 3 black ones. The black oak case with the urban camo lining that was on Phil's website was mine.

All I'm saying is the shroud is the weakest part of the gun. Yes, you can pick it up that way but it sure feels like it's going to break. I have another steel PR that has a support frame under the shroud and it makes the SD shroud look like a joke.



When you pull the trigger and that heavy ass Thompson bolt is released... man you can really feel it! It's not just a slap sound.
