The discussion of the Alien series of films and the props used in them is the aim, but if it's got Big Bugs and Big Guns, then they are welcome too!

Which format?

If it's Xbox 360, I'm willing to co-op it with you to get through that bit. :)

Sweet. Yeah I am on a 360. I've been playing on ultimate badass and am about to throw the controller, box and game out the window. :)

Can always try to arrange a date/time nearer to the end of the week. :)

I struggled a bit on normal difficulty the first time, but I did it without much trouble when I replayed it later on the hard mode. I just kept hitting from a distance. I thought I might be too far away, but it was still hitting, so I just kept going. It's best to get it in a corner, or against a wall, but hitting from a distance was the main thing for me.

Can't get past a point in the first level where all enemies are WY personnel, including at least one armoured smart gunner, when armour's in short supply and the best weapon I have is a shotgun with limited ammo. :|

Playing on Soldier and may have to drop down to Recruit to get through, but don't want to. :?

I wish I was joking when I said it took me two seperate 1hr+ sessions to beat that on 'soldier'. I had chalked it up in the first session to having one too many while playing, but the second go was just as impossible! Eventually I succeeded by guerrilla attacking running back and forth across the expanse of the map trying to isolate one or 2 guys at a time until there was just the Smart gunner left. If you run around enough eventually someone coughs up a health pack or two.

So in other news...I don't believe clothing/uniform qualifies as a "spoiler". How about those black BDU WY grunts? I only recall the all-white uniforms in the main game anyways, and thought the concept art with black BDUs was something they decided not to run with. I honestly am not sure if I like those or not. Just a minor detail, but I kind of like the WY Grunt design, so that really stuck out at me.

Getting past the WY smart gunner was beyond frustrating. On Ultimate I think it was like 6 hours..... and a bunch of luck with my flame grenades hitting at just the right spot and time, etc plus a few claymores helped a bit. I had no luck with just HE. I had figured out the entry points and when for them, but it was still an experience in pain.

That sounds like a plan. Friday night may not work but Saturday or Thursday night might.

I just DL the movie maps myself. We could swing a group maybe. I just got my "quoth the raven" achievement this afternoon. It took countless attempts to do it too on UBA.

I couldn't play online last weekend as I had no internet, but it's back working, so am available on 360 any evening or this weekend.

I've still got the hawking and a few other challenges to do, so need a group of at least four to do some. :)

Will add both of you (if not already on my Friends list) and will join you tonight, as I need the last few challenges done and some/all need more than two players to complete;

Down But Not Out - Kill an enemy while incapacitated. (needs doing in modes like Escape, rather than Team Deathmatch?)

Hawked It All Up - As a Spitter Xeno, kill 2 enemies at once with a single fully charged Spit attack.

Whatever ones come after those.

Online now, so will wait for at least two more players, as I can't do the challenges with just one opponent. :)

Nobody else online, so spent an hour trying to get an online game, eventually managed to find a Bug Hunt game, but the other three players didn't have headsets and played as individuals, so I didn't last long.

Might try again tomorrow night, around the same time (9-10pm BST).

Got it this weekend for my birthday. This evening was spent playing the Raven boss over and over and over and over and ad nauseum.

Just can't cause enough damage before the Raven headbutts me too death, or the normal bugs eat my feet off.

The NPCs having the pinpoint accuracy of drunken crosseyed Stormtroopers doesn't help pick off the regular xenos only, either.

At least your NPCs are shooting at them. I frequently had issues when I played where the NPCs completely ignored aliens and just ran off without me. Then there was the boss with that stupid rhino alien (the crusher?) my squadmates sat at in one spot the whole time and would not follow and shoot the damn thing. I basically played ring around the rosie with it around the ground feature near the NPCs so they would shoot him when it was in their field of view/fire.

It has taken me almost a year but I finally beat the first mission. I bought it on release day only to find a broken PS3 waiting for me at home. Then the weather got nice. After months of here and there time playing, it was 20 degrees out so I figured, hell today is a video game day. Progress.
