The discussion of the Alien series of films and the props used in them is the aim, but if it's got Big Bugs and Big Guns, then they are welcome too!

Kind of lousy that they put it up for purchase first, while those

COD at least sent map access out to their season pass holders first before
opening it up to everyone.

I'm sure they'll get it sorted soon though.

It happened with Bug Hunt too, so it may be just the way it's released by Microsoft.

Way too many apparently. No wonder A:CM went sideways, upside down, and every which way but forward. What a shame...

Sega are the publisher who initially paid for the licence from Fox.

Gearbox are the main developer contracted by Sega to make/supply the finished game.

Timegate were contracted by Gearbox to code some/most/all of the game.

The layoff of staff following completion of a game is commonplace. If the company is very small, then it often means the end of the company.

Rebellion laid off lots of staff (including a friend of mine) once AvP 2010 was released.

The same's happening to visual effects comapnies working on films and TV.

e.g. The company who did the vfx for Life of Pi went chapter 11 straight after the film came out.

Well, I finally bought A:CM, waited because A: it had such bad reviews, and B: I waited till it had been patched but primarily C: I never buy a game new, they're just not worth the money if money is tight.

I have to say, not tried the multiplayer yet, but I quite like it. Better than expected. Prefer it over COD: Black Ops truth be told.

Lent my copy to my boss' son, who's a Halo and CoD player, expecting him to hand it back after a day.

He's had it a month and loves it. :)

Done, Finito, Ultimate Badass level:) Played it through twice now, and I still prefer it over Call of Duty: Black Ops. It could have been better, but then so could most things. End of the day, it did what it was intended to do, entertained me (please insert choice of "easy to entertain" type comment here).

Did anyone else notice the floaty geo-mapping balls from Prometheus fly past?

Yeah I saw them, probably something they added after speaking to Ridley Scott. Did you find the holo-battle and the doughnut easter-eggs?

The doughnut is in Mission 7 - when you're with O'Neil and Bella, you go through a door, there's a valley on your right, and a rocky arch that you have to head towards (don't go through it yet though!). Aliens leap across the valley towards you, so you kill them, and on the opposite side of the valley where they come from is a flat outcropping, where you can see a small box. Simply shoot it (apparently you're supposed to shoot around it a bit first, but I zapped it straight away and triggered the easter egg no problem).

There's another one in Mission 7, a spaceballs one, after Bella's death when you're clearing out the facility. You kill 2 scientists in a room (it's a small room you enter, one of the scientists is stood still, studying something, and there are chestbursters in stasis tubes in the middle. There's a side-door that leads to an armour pick-up, with another stasis tube. In that tube is a straw hat an cane. Press the action button when looking at it until the bottom lights up, then when you go back in the other room, the chestbursters now have the hats and cane.

The holoship battle is in Mission 8 - When you enter the room with the Space Jockey, clear out all the bad guys. Once done go up to the Space Jockey, and empty a clip into his head.

Enjoy! I was playing online with some friends, and hit the doughnut one. A mate suddenly went "What the fuck? Did you see that?"

He was so happy to learn he'd actually seen it and hadn't played the game so much he was hallucinating!

New Movie Map Pack coming in a week:

http://forums.gearboxsoftware.com/showt ... p?t=289832

Quote:
A:CM Movie Map Pack DLC Next Week
The Movie Map Pack, an all-new add-on for Aliens: Colonial Marines, is headed to PC, PlayStation 3, and Xbox 360 next week. The Movie Pack features two all-new Deathmatch / Extermination maps, one new Survivor map, and an all new Escape map. All maps are based on locations from classic Alien movies: Alien, Aliens, and Alien 3.

- The two new Team Deathmatch and Extermination maps feature locations from Aliens & Alien 3; 'Fury 161’ takes place in the run-down prison facility as seen in Alien 3, while ‘Processor’ puts you in the heart of the Alien hive from the Atmospheric plant in Aliens.

The new Survivor map, 'Nostromo', features marines defending themselves against Xenos inside the iconic spaceship from Alien.

The new Escape map, 'Exodus’, is situated on the doomed Sulaco. Marines awaken from cryo-sleep and must navigate their way to escape pods whilst under Xeno attack.

The Movie Map Pack will be rolling out on all platforms beginning June 11th (June 12th for PlayStation 3 players in Europe) and will be available individually or as part of the Aliens: Colonial Marines Season Pass, a bundle that includes access to the previously released Bug Hunt add-on and the Reconnaissance Pack as well as an upcoming campaign add-on

haha, yep found 'em, the doughnut is definately most bizarre.

I was intrigued by the green ship in the holo battle, at first I thought maybe a pred ship, but not sure now. It kinda looks like it stepped out of battle beyond the stars as well.

We've had some epic bug hunt matches lately and wished you were there with us. We'll gladly do whatever we can to help get you back to level 60 and unlock all challenge stuff again. Keep us posted buddy!
