The discussion of the Alien series of films and the props used in them is the aim, but if it's got Big Bugs and Big Guns, then they are welcome too!

I've got so many ideas for a ship name that I can be stationed on, i'd like some of your guy's opinions on them, feel free to suggest your own. I didn't want to do multiple word titles, as I have to sew this onto a patch, remember!

-Sticking with the Conrad theme seen in the films: USS Marlow, USS Kurtz, USS Montero, USS Almayer

-Or... I like the sound of these names (like you'd expect of royal navy ships from the 1700s): USS Triumph, USS Royal, USS Emperor, USS Victory, USS Valour

USS Lucitania. My first station actually. She's a fine ship. :)

They had some choices, but couldn't agree on one without an order, signed in triplicate, sent in, sent back, queried, lost, found, subjected to public enquiry, lost again, and finally buried in soft peat for three months and recycled as firelighters.

Actually, they did get the orders sorted out, and the ship's commission certificate IS available to view. It's in the bottom of a locked filing cabinet stuck in a disused lavatory with a sign on the door saying "Beware of the Leopard".

The USS Marlow is the ship in the 2010 AvP game, it turns out.
Retrogarde- as much as a two man rave on the USS Conrad sounds like fun, I'll probably go for the Kurtz (its shorter, so easier to sew on)
Maybe I'll post a pic of it when it's done.

Just wondering why you don't want to consider yourself part of one of the existing "ships", Jim?
Since you have UKCM in your sig, and all... Whereabouts do you live? They're pretty much assigned geographically, with a few quirks of location.

Weeeel... The thing is that I do live in the UK, but I made the call to be uscm for now, until I can get all the right badges (two sets) for the UK uniform. And as for the ship name, I'm not going to parade around with these badges on, it's just so that I can see what it'll look like in the end.
u could call me a closet costumer, but hey.
And I just fancy making my own ship until then, really.

USS Kurtz is f'ing brilliant. We'll have to send the USS Marlow to investigate after you cease radio transmission over Helene 215. Your ship's patch should have a water buffalo on it!

Fair enough, I was just wondering - For the record, plenty of our members costume or have costumed with USCM patches instead of UKCM ones... Just didn't want you thinking you'd be unwelcome in any of the official UKCM ships for any reason, because we pride ourselves on being friendly and inclusive. Wear what you like, so long as the bar has no dress code! :)

I like the sound of using the names of the D-DAY beaches for CM ships... That way, there are versions for the US, the UK and CANADA... And there's a nod to a long standing alliance...

I feel that these beach names could be regarded as 'iconic' enough in the future to name ships after...

The USCM have USS OMAHA and USS UTAH...

The UKCM have HMS SWORD and HMS GOLD...

The UACM have HMCS JUNO...

I think SWORD, JUNO and UTAH sound awesome...

Regards,

2-1-6

We're working on some CGI art of the USS Utah for an upcoming game project, so I agree about the name.

heres the badge for the Kurtz ( sorry it took so long I forgot about the thread! )
My limited sewing skills made the off centering inevitable, but its better than nothing, and maybe ill do better on my next try ( or just get custom badges)
also, the O on Sulaco doesn't show up normally, I was just blasting it with light at the time.

The standard for the UACM ship designation is UAS, as not all countries of the United Americas are subjects of Her/His Majesty (Whoever will be begotten from what's in Kate's belly right now).

The only presently recognized vessel of the UACM is the UAS Macdonald, named after Sir John A Macdonald; first Prime Minister of Canada, drunken Scot and a fine square dancer.

Canada's got some great place names ideal for UA ships, the UK err not so much.

Which sounds better, HMS Severn Beach, or UAS Thunder Bay?
