what can anyone tell me about this space survey vehicle that is film matched aboard nostromo ?

its apprx 8ft long 5ft wide and heavily detailed ( see photos attached )

There's also a VTOL and a tracked vehicle in the Nostromo. It's amazing the level of detail that was put into that film, some of which is only now (thanks to freeze frames on a DVD/BR) becoming visible.

Where did that second photo come from? Excellent detail!

Hmmm, the wheels on Bob Burns vehicle don't seem to match what's on screen. The SU vehicle looks to have "slats" on the tires.

Looks to me like Bobs is just missing the added ribbed parts that completely cover the actual tyres.

Was it actually driveable?
Maybe they were removed so it could be driven again, and the added tyre parts were just set dressing and stopped it doing so.
