The discussion of the Alien series of films and the props used in them is the aim, but if it's got Big Bugs and Big Guns, then they are welcome too!

So I've started to make a few of my own grenades...namely the ones that you can't generally buy.

I made the first one out of different diameters of pvc pipe (the white kind), with an inner dowel to add some strength. I used a combination of glues...Gorilla brand crazy glue and 5 minute epoxy. I still need to find something to use as a good base, as I was forced to cut out a circle of 1/32" brass and use that. For the tip on this one (which is a White Phosphorus M60), I found a bolt that fit the outside diameter of the pvc pipe almost identically. Ironically it also has a "P" embossed on the top.

Right now I'm at the primer stage...next will be the white paint, and finally the brown stripes for Willy Pete.

I'm also going to make another WP, some smoke, CS gas, a para-flare and likely a buckshot one. Just not sure how many of each yet.

This was a fun little project, and now that I know what I am doing, the next ones shouldn't take as long.

I used a hacksaw and a mitre gauge to make straight cuts. Used a dremel to clean up the edges and do any trimming that needed doing.

"So I started making my own grenades out of PVC pipe" the Pentagon's spyware filters just went bananas! 8) "The Canadians are arming themselves!!"

Awesome job on this! It's really cool to see some alternate styles. This is from the Tech Manual, yes?

Good work. Very inventive. Have you considered using shotgun brass for the base? It should fit! :)

Station!

If you are going to be making more in a similar way, maybe you should look into buying a PVC pipe cutter? It might cut down on your work time, although I'm not sure how precise they are or if they can cut short pieces.

I think it looks great so far!

PS- don't worry about the "spy" filters... the pentagon already knows all about us "dangerous Canadians."

I still can't believe that happened. "Keeping America safe from painted green PVC since 2001".

So I realized the first one I made is actually a canister shot...sorry. I repainted it accordingly then made an actual White Phosphorus.

I'll probably make one more WP, then one smoke, and one para-flare.

Very nice work. I am also taking a stab at making my own Grenades, so will post some pics of how they turn out.
