The discussion of the Alien series of films and the props used in them is the aim, but if it's got Big Bugs and Big Guns, then they are welcome too!

So Lauren is planning to cosplay as Gaige the Mechromancer from Borderlands 2 for next year's D*Con...
Cue Xmas present idea!

Let's take one of these:

Image

Refer a LOT to these:

Image
Image

And make THIS!

Image

Image

It's a combination of stencilled rattle-can work, and hand-painted acrylic, with a good few layers of clear-coat on top and between some layers.
The gaffa tape is real, and I removed almost all of the little rivets, replacing them with big nuts and bolts from my bits-box.
I also outlined all the hardware and scratches/ dents with black lines to maintain the "cell-shaded" look.
The hinges were a pain in the hoop! I removed the originals, and found the closest I could get size-wise - Only realising afterwards that the way they're designed in the game, the physically cannot work.
So I used some chrome tape to fake the hinge on the front face of the box, and epoxied some more screw-heads in place - No time to find another bigger hinge and cut more out of the lid and boxy, but I think it looks pretty good as is! Not perfect, but given all the other little things I went back and did time and again ( "Hmm. That eye isn't QUITE the right shape!" ) I had to draw a line ( No pun intended ) at some point and get the thing wrapped for Xmas! :)

Hope you Vault Hunters out there like it!

Cheers!
Took me about a week, maybe two of actual work I think - Had a few delays due to needing hinges, paintcan being unexpectedly emptier than thought etc!
And, obviously, letting paint coats dry.

It looks a bajillion times more awesome in person. The colors are a lot brighter and bolder. And bonus points for the scavenger hunt to find it!

A P99 might be a better base for that pistol bud.

It's actually kinda a cross between the Mk23 and the P99 with a bit of USP

Again, not QUITE...
It's a mishmash.

Annoyingly, that straight trigger looks really familiar, just can't place it.
But the slide release is very Socom.

Decided to bulk up the front a little bot more, and have now installed the electronics :)

If I can find a wee switch in my bits-box, I'll wore one in, otherwise it'll be always on when the mag is attached ( Coz, y'know, that's where I'm putting the 9v battery that runs the lights :p )

Aaaand a few coats of paint, some messing about with epoxy resin, and a few blasts of a heatgun to shrink vinyl that's been fiddly-ly cut to shape...
Getting nearer to completion!

That trigger screams Glock to me... what with the little trigger safety lever thingy there.

Still trying to get the electronics working right, accidentally melted my switch, so off to Maplin shortly.
