The discussion of the Alien series of films and the props used in them is the aim, but if it's got Big Bugs and Big Guns, then they are welcome too!

Hey everyone this is my first time making a Colonial Marine costume and I'm having a hard time finding boots like they wore in the film in a small size. I wear a size 6 women's anyone know where to find some? Maybe on Amazon.com?

It has been argued* that all the women actually wore regular leather combat boots as opposed to the OD jungles that most others had. Moosh found some pretty good looking leather boots in a women's size 2 even, so I think you will hopefully have more options going that route.

*Everyone knows Vasquez wore black leather combat boots from here scene in the air ducts stomping the aliens face before she shoots it. I believe I have proved Dietrich also had leather, but my fuzzy images are hardly definitive. Ferro and Spunkmeyer can be seen walking the cargo bay in black leather and as a flight crew it makes sense. My theory is they couldnt find women's size OD jungles even back then! But what do I know...

Thanks for the posts so I'm guessing either jungle boots or plain black would be good and accurate for this costume?

I have lots of actual production Vietnam era and 1980s OD Jungle Boots, but none in your size. I highly recommend against the $20 Chinese knock-offs in a surplus store, since they'll kill your feet.

The link above that Dom provided, is a quality product, at a close-out price. That can't be beat! Hurry up and grab a pair before they sell out.

I would check out SODA brand. They make black womens leather combat style boots. I found a Girls SODA Dome-II pair in size 2 youth, but every place I found them they were sold out. Eventually I lucked out and found a different brand on ebay in Girls size 2 They should be here in about a week or so.

These are the ones I am getting. No idea what the brand is

I did find these too, they are cheap however. Quality wasn't important to me since I never walk on my boots, they are pretty much just for show, but if Doms excellent find doesn't suit you, you could check these out too.

My youth size 2 would have been Mens size 1 I think.

I've just started looking for a pair myself as Ive started building my costume. I'm surprised by the price range on the Internet. They seem to range from about $27 to $100. I think I need to try some on to get an idea of the proper fit. I usually wear a 9 1/2, but boots seem to vary. There are a few surplus and boot shops in my area (metro Detroit) so hopefully I can find something close to at least figure out which size I need.

I bought Altamas a few years ago and paid about $120. They're comfy and can be worn all day at a con. I also bought cheap Chinese knock-offs for $20... and now, I want to invade China.

I was sure that everyone knew that the boot stomping the Xeno's face wasn't Jennete Goldsteins/Vazquez's but actually Gale Ann Hurd (Producer) because in the close up Goldstein wasn't getting the recoil of the 9mm pistol right due to over-exaggeration.....Hurd was/is an avid shooter, so she was drafted in for the close cut to ensure it looked 'right'

Trivia!

Well yeah, but like any good 'stunt double', Gale wore the same gear as the character. Def a fun fact but it doesn't discredit the statement.

(Sorry if I am taking your intentions wrong, just felt like the setup implied I was unaware of key elements)

Vibram is correct. Sahara is the current work boot style sole, but it is almost gone.

When I got mine several years ago, the were already discontinued.

So does anyone know where I can get dog tags like the ones in Aliens? And do we ever know other than name what's on their dog tags?
