I managed to find a hobby shop that had some Brown Bess so I cleaned them out of it (4 tins worth).
I also got some paint chips from Walmart to see if I could match it to a standard colour.
When I got the tins home, I noticed about an inch of dust on them. Stirring them was brutal. The paint had completely separated and was this brown chunk of goo stuck to the bottom of the tin. As I stirred it I thought, ok it's brown... no wait, it's grey... no, it's green... This was one odd colour.
After stirring it for as long as I cared to, I painted a small amount onto a white paint chip. It is very muddy dark brown in appearance (this was my first time seeing it in person). The Field Drab I mentioned earlier is much too light compared to this. Lolly's XF-51 is close, but looks a little too grey, this should be more on the brown side.
I think I saw a really close match in the store (I think it was a German brown colour- RLN something), I'll check again on the weekend.
As for the paint chips from Walmart, two that are close are: Olive Brown (20YY 12/163), and Turkish Brown (20YY 09/175). The Turkish Brown is the closer of the two, but is still slightly too light compared to BB.
Hope this helps.
