The discussion of the Alien series of films and the props used in them is the aim, but if it's got Big Bugs and Big Guns, then they are welcome too!

While digging around in my old stuff I found an old cap gun that may have been my dad's:

It's the basis for the Nostromo pistol!

For anyone unfamiliar with what I'm trying to build, here is a link to the amazing recreation by Shawn Morgan (detailed here by Superjedi on the RPF):

http://www.therpf.com/f9/nostromo-pistol-78747/

Mine of course will not be as spot on accurate, but I'm getting the general feel:

The top scope is off a toy Han Solo blaster with some PVC pipe extension. The bottom is a scope is from an Airsoft gun I picked up at Goodwill a while back. For some reason this picture makes everything look crooked. It's not in real life. The back section of the Rexim slides open, so I'm going to detail the interior as well. It did mean that my top scope had to attach further up than the one in Alien, but the trade-off is worth it to me. Also I might be able to build up the front of the area that slides to recreate the look of the closed gun without sacrificing the movement.

Holy cow to both finds!

Ive been looking for those VP70s forever. I eventually gave up and just bought a resin one. What store still stocks them???

Having the resin one, I dont "need" another VP70, but I'm still planning that outfit for me kid, and a VP70 like that is probably a bit safer for him to carry around. I still hope to find one locally, but I could def be interested.

First coat of paint. It helps unify the whole thing, huh? The tip is a problem, but I haven't found a better solution just yet. I still need to paint a couple parts red and add the lettering.

Here's a shot of it open. I've got a plan for the interior that I hope works. More photos to come!

Bigbisont: I found these at a Maine-based retail chain called Reny's. I'll pick one up for you as they may not get more in. The thing is full sized and just needs a bit of work (sanding, filling, painting) and it looks pretty great!

Matt: I'll have a look and see!

I'm going to add some detailing to the Nostromo pistol to cover over some of the original toy (for example where the original shoulder stock connected), should I also build up the part that narrows in (where the metal met the red plastic on the original toy)? The Nostromo guns are straight across, not angled, but I don't know that it looks bad. We'll see.

The little laser part on the bottom scope was created with a clear plastic bottle cap and a red LEGO lightsaber blade, but I think the cap needs to be bigger...

There's a couple of real Singlepoints on the RPF right now, but £125 and £199...

Son of a gun, look at the Singlepoint on this Star Wars blaster:

$18 at Kmart. Looks pretty spot on, and certainly beats the cost of a real Singlepoint!

Well, seems like there are more people asking for those VP70s than are likely to be available. I withdraw my request so that others that don't have one at all can scoop them up.

Okay: I went to the store and bought two more. They had another two there, so I'll go back and grab those as well. That makes a tentative four available:
Matt Rendar
chevyh0tr0d
Moosh89
cosmo-craemer

Please PM me your addresses and we'll take this convo offline. Sound good?

Bigbisont is the awesome guy letting others have a go, so I will keep an eye out still for him. 88reaper88: I don't know about mailing these across the pond. You guys have crazy toy gun laws, right?

Yeah it's tight over here, saying that a few of my friends have had airsoft and even PFC guns sent over with no hassle.
Knowing my luck what ever I got sent they would destroy :(

bigbisont, I will keep my eye out as well. My local dollar store has some suprises sometimes, but it's not very often I get to go with the weather. Last time I went I found a bunch of little pump shotguns that I got to hopefully use for my small Pulse Rifle.

I will have a look for some cool guns to make ALIENS stuff out of next time I go.

Okay, I grabbed the last two. I will keep an eye out for Bigbisont and Simon, but if I find any more after that I will start a thread on the PX for selling them. Not sure if I've broken a forum rule here, but if I did I certainly don't want to make it worse!
