I'm 110% in favour of a move to new software whatever the format. I only hope we can move away from this very dated and cumbersome ezboard.

I'm sure that ezboard isn't indexed very well by the search engines in comparison with other types and, consequently membership will suffer. Besides, more people are familiar with phpBB etc and they can be customized very well.

I'm also willing to bet too that our membership will double - within a few months of a move - many people detest this software and won't sign-up because of it.

Just thinking of stuff. I think it would be better to have
some more divisions - subdivisions, but not making it too
complicated.

Just to be diffiult...I wouldn't mind a few more categories, but I would hestitate to add too many. I like this board layout cause I have 4 places to check for new posts. Example of major suckage: If anybody has seen the new separation of threads at the Dewback Wing ASAP (Battlestar Galactica section in particular), they took 4 sections and made it @ 7. I like the KISS principal, less is more.

But as always I will go with the majority, as resistance is futile. Just my 2 cents.

There's always the 'New Posts' facility (which doesn't work very well on Ezboard) - saves wading through countless boards.

There should eb a facility to host images directly on the server.

Basically theres lots of features which can be added to the forum. But at the moment we are concentrating on just making the new board run somoothly and as have the same features as ezboard.

Might looking into other ways to inprove the new forum later on.

Not sure we really need the direct hosting of images on the server, what with places such as photobucket.com, who allow off-site linking to images, unlike other image hosting sites.

The board logo, background and buttons are kept on my web-space provided by Demon Internet here in the UK. I'll look into why they're not appearing. Apologies for not noticing this sooner though, until now the images have been appearing for me, but that must have been because they were in my cache and not because I was downloading them when I went on the board.

As for idea's for the new server: It would be good to have a tutorial thread. Showing progress pictures of both marine and Aliens! I'd be up for writing a tutorial for anyone interested? And Im sure Pug would be glad to help too!

the new software as described above.

Just getting the search function to work would be worth ALL the hassle. But as well, I agree with KISS, less is more.
