The discussion of the Alien series of films and the props used in them is the aim, but if it's got Big Bugs and Big Guns, then they are welcome too!

About time you posted this!

I want one! :)

Do you have any build process pics?

So how many Alien Sheckles does it take to get a Hammerpede in a can?
How many Weyland employees does it take to put a Hammerpede in a can?
Got Hammerpede in a can...? Let him out!

Thank you, thank you, I'll be here all week...

Russ

HA! Russ just one, and just one to load the pede in the hole. ;)..Anyway.... Lucked out to be honest, but even with gloves on, it's not too difficult to reload it.

Bought a couple of wooden shape boxes and glued all the lids together, except the top.
Image
Attempted to mark out where I wanted the top part of the lid with rivets before I covered the entire thing in a pre-made bag of paper mache. It looks like a bag of pulp, but used this to add the thickness and overall shape. Once dried, covered in bondo and sanded.
Image
Took an xacto knife and by no short miracle (the rivets I used as markings were an epic fail as I ended up covering them completely, so it was all memory and guess work) cut it nearly exactly where the top lid was. I then cut a hole in the top layer of base and inserted the can portion and secured it. The top of the can I secured with a bit of tiral and error to the top portion of the lid after added a few layers to make sure I had the can lined up and would stay together. I had no idea if this was going to work out or not or how I'd be able to load it, but yay for things that just happen to work out! :D
Image
The goo detail is just more bondo that I teased a bit and painted with a few different kinds of metallic paint.
Image
then tooled in the alien details and painted with about a half dozen different kinds of spray paint.

Holy shmow, that looks fantastic! Excellent work! The slight shimmer to goo is some fabulous attention to detail!
