There's a couple guys on this board - including myself - who are working on the same project.
The smartgun itself is a German MG42 machinegun body, with Kawasaki motorcycle parts stuck on it to give it the sci-fi look. The vest and arm are a Steadicam Mk.3 camera operator's vest. Good luck finding an original one of those for under $10,000, but there are plans on the web (
www.codydeegan.com for example) to build your own replica. Also, one of the veteran board members by the name of Jesse DeGraff is working on making a kit for the vest and arm based on his own replica, which he designed himself using exact measurements from the original Steadicam vest. He's hard at work on post-production for a fan film right now, though, so no ETA on his kits as of yet.
Found parts for the gun:
Kawasaki AR-125 footpeg hangers (front struts)
8mm drum magazine with custom cover
Custom muzzle/flash suppressor
Kawasaki GPZ-750 switchgear (switches on front grip, also provides the cable you see hanging from the gun)
Bike handles for the front and rear grips, clutch lever for rear trigger
Bigger grip for the charging handle
Custom trigger housing
Custom "IR Targeter" box
I think that's all of em, hehe. A quick google image search will nab you tons of great reference photos. There's a couple different routes you can go, but the route I'm taking (and the one that seems to give the best results for the money) is to buy a resin MG-42 from Matsuo and go from there. If you want to get really hard-core with it and make an all metal one, a Shoei MG-42 airsoft gun body is what you want to start with.
Guys, feel free to add anything I've missed, hehe. Best of luck to you!
