The discussion of the Alien series of films and the props used in them is the aim, but if it's got Big Bugs and Big Guns, then they are welcome too!

I'm feeling left out. Seems like everybody is doing Aliens and Preds these days. :)

Russ, the Pred was fun, but I can safely say, it was the most uncomfortable costume I ever wore.

Movement was limited, the foam and latex were very thick, and once you were in it, it was a heat trap. The major factor was that it was built to fit Friendlyskies, and me and him have a very different body shape. I am thicker in the chest, midrift and legs, and that certainly took its toll. At some points it felt like a boa constrictor.

Another factor is that, like you said, everyone is doing them these days, and if I am going to put myself through all that discomfort, I want a costume that is going to stand out.

It was fun while it lasted, but my Predator days are behind me I think ;)

Super pics

Helen.

OMG - I love this thread -- Love seeing the pics of peeps I know if outfits I've never seen them in !!!
Just fantastic ....

I, on the other hand, have no Aliens/ Pred outfits, as I do not do much costuming, if ever -- I have loads of medieval/SCA stuff - having gone through Italian ren, to basic "wench", to my newest outfits of traditional Afrikkan garb.

I do, however, have way too many awesome funny t-shirts that I love to wear at conventions when I'm busy handling for people.

But please, keep those pics coming -- you all look fantastic !!!

I'm really not into costuming. I'm a hard-core reenactor! Mostly Vietnam, but some WWII also. I have a fleet of 10 military vehicles, enough weapons for a platoon, a house full of uniforms, and so many tents that I can house about 100 troops.

But the Colonial Marines are so bad-ass that I put a Sci-Fi Military 'costume' in with my uniforms. 'Aliens' is simply the best movie ever made. :delta:
Image

Also, in our reenacting group, some of us split off into smaller groups and do Mobsters (not me) or foreign Military forces like British SAS.
Image

As a group, we even do some more exotic OPFOR like Soviet Airborne VDV. With these awesome impressions, we usually roll out to airsoft events, and use the experience for PR and for training.
Image

And then, just recently I did another sort-of-costume, but it's still Military. All I had to do was get a couple different items, like a repro M1911 shoulder holster to mod up, and a new-production Aussie slouch hat, and make some custom painted camo print pants and BAM! I'm Jungle Recon! HELL YEAH!
Image

Officially, he's the 1984 GI JOE "Recondo" Jungle Trooper. But due to a new YouTube Channel called "Action Figure Therapy" this charactor is probably better known as "Jungle Recon".

I made it into somebody's blog: while searching for pics of the recent Polaris convention I attended, I came across this site-

http://mindreels.wordpress.com/2012/07/09/polaris-26/

And found a pic of me in my "Wrath of Khan" Admiral Kirk-

I always delight in the costumes, some of them truly are amazing, and show, time, care, attention to detail, and a love of their subject, as illustrated by one of the best Kirks (circa The Wrath of Khan) I have ever seen to the right. The guy even had the right hair!

"The right hair."

What's funny is I did grow my hair out and style it specifically for this costume; nice to know someone noticed! :)
