The discussion of the Alien series of films and the props used in them is the aim, but if it's got Big Bugs and Big Guns, then they are welcome too!

@ Helen

Heres the costs for building/ painting

Milliput epoxy resin £4
Zap CA £7
sandpaper £2
Tamiya olive drab 2 spray x2 £12
Humbrol Metalcote Polished Aluminium spray £5
Humbrol black matt spray x2 £10
Humbrol metalcote polished steel spray £5
Tamiya clear varnish spray £6

i think that works out at £51 but i still have 1 can of olive drab 2 leftover and one black matt leftover so really £40

All sprays were good for 3 coats. Also the Humbrol sprays were 150ml and the Tamiya were 100ml

hi all , i have been building models for many years i use halfords car spray paint the range of colours is impressive and many are in metalic, they may be something for you to consider?

Hiya, yeah Halfords have a good range and I actually did consider using them. I was a little uncertain how well they would apply so decided to go with the Humbrol sprays. the krylon (sp?) Sprays look good so if I do get around to getting the M41K spulse kit i may try the halfords and krylon paints on it.

if the spulse is resin then they should be fine as long as the resin has been cleaned of any residue and solution and they dry in 20 mins

Parcel force arn't that bad. I've imported LOAD of things over the years. 15 latex masks, 9 hockey masks, 1 razor glove, multiple video games & DVD's a crap load of figures and multiple other little things and only 1 thing has ever gone missing.
Maybe it depends on the area you're living.

Back on topic. Ebay has a good selection of humbrol paints. You honestly don't need to spend much. You could probably get away with painting and prepping the pulse for under £20.

I find humbrol paints don't need a primer most of the time so that's a few quid saved.

Oh one thing I'll also add. Humbrol paints can be a funny beast sometimes. They take a while to dry. Sometime 2 or 3 days.
Humbrol paints are meant for smaller areas and not for painting an entire gun. Not that it would be financialy sound. To buy enough humbrol paint to paint and entire pulse would cost a bomb and probably take a month to dry.

I always used to use Humbrol paints for AFV scale modelling many years ago. They were good but I preferred the Tamiya range when they were released some way down the line. I never used them on anything large scale like this though. The closest thing were the old LS 1:1 scale pistol kits where I used metallics for dry brushed 'wear' on raised areas etc.

Anyway, more great progress DK. If I hadn't wanted a PR specifically for airsoft gaming I may well have bought this one just as a 'collectible' after following your thread. I mentioned much earlier that I've never built any sort of resin kit before but I'm really impressed with the quality & appearance of this Spulse... & it doesn't cost the earth either. :D

Cheers.

John. :)

Cheers again guys. Just a quick update, I have been scratching up the shroud allowing the silver underneath to come through. It looks great and very realistic in my eyes. May have gone a bit overboard though lol. I just have some silver parts to paint and touch a few areas up and then spray a clear protective coat over it and it should be all done. I tried taking a pic but its very difficult as either the colours dont display correctly or it does not show all the detail.

I hope you all like the final result. I had next to no tools to complete the assembly. Just screws, drill, putty and lots of sandpaper lol.

Cheers guys, it's been a pleasure working on this kit and have had a lot of fun. Not sure about next project although i may design and build some sort of wall bracket/ display for the spulse to hang on when not in use. Will keep this thread updated should i do so.

Are you going to drill out the barrels?

Looks great mate,
Any ideas reguarding the rack/display?

I was thinking about drilling out the GL barrel but not the top one. I would be scared in case i dropped it and the top one caved in. I was thinking of mimicking the rack which comes with the pr forbidden planet are selling

Yeh that makes sense. You could actually cut off the tip off the main barrel and replace it with some pipe, might work? I dunno, just an idea :)

Ah cool, a few people have made their own version of the HCG stand. I plan to use that plywood stuff with the holes in and two tool bracket thingies, just gotta fit my shrouds out with a Thompson and spas first! ;)
