The discussion of the Alien series of films and the props used in them is the aim, but if it's got Big Bugs and Big Guns, then they are welcome too!

I'm not even 100% sure this wasn't manufactured by the costume department. But if it wasn't...

The vest looks like it's a nylon weave similar in design to what the Blackhawk tac vests are made from.

The armor plates are an add-on item, as are the cobra buckles. It's the base, black nylon vest I'm trying to ID.

Any help greatly appreciated.

We've IDed pretty much all the parts except for the under vest and the armored hydration pack on the back.
I've looked at hundreds of the things, and nothing comes close because NOBODY I've found yet makes a rigid
shell hydration rig.

Having compared some pictures, I personally think the vest are these but turned inside out.
The neck line is the same, the inner webbing pattern is the same and it uses the three side straps also.

What do you think??????????

Good theory, but I'm not sure you're correct. If you look at this pic...

The neck line doesn't match up. Also in the front, there's no separation like the camelback has with the zipper. Similar material though.

Unless someone comes up with a match, I'm starting to think that the armored vest rig IS a complete
original design for the film. It has so much more detail than most costumes do. Seems odd that they'd use
easily accessible off the rack parts for everything EXCEPT the vest.

@Kevin: Transformers 3, If you're being serious. Doctor Spat's Killer Supermodel Shock Troopers 2: Electric Boogaloo... if you're not. ;)

I was.

The laughing emoticon was me laughing at myself for not knowing this. I actually haven't watched any of the Transformer films.

Hell no on the wingsuit. While it was cool to see in the film, stylistically,
it does nothing for me. I'm more a guns & armor kind of guy. :)

@Kevin: No problem dude! If I was you, I'd pay $2 and rent the first one. If
you don't hate it, see the other two. They're thin on plot, big on explosions
and massive stunts. And the occasional hot chick. :)

It's not the armor that's the issue... it's what the armor is attached to that's the issue. :)

The armor will likely be a foam base with a rubbermai... um, I mean, "High impact space age polymer"
surface.

It looks custom. it just seems a bad design for an actual tac vest

It's more of an assault rig. 5 mags for 120 rounds, plus radio, knife and hydration rig.

More SWAT and less US Army. :)
