The discussion of the Alien series of films and the props used in them is the aim, but if it's got Big Bugs and Big Guns, then they are welcome too!

Ok...after searching through every Transformer aswell...i eventually found out it wasnt a transformer. lol

This is when i remembered a part that was similar in style and size, that was on an old wind up toy i had when i was a kid.

Interestingly i found this toy again a couple of weeks ago, so this must have jogged my memory.

It was made by Tomy, and after searching the net for a bit i remember it was a ZOID!

Looking through Zoid sites, i found the piece on Spartak, but it was the wrong colour (silver).

Basically the right colour is the dark blue one. Its found on certain Zoids that have the Special Weapons pack, which seems to come with some and not others.

I've seen it on Trooperzoid (aka Spartak, Godos - but wrong colour), and Scorpozoid.

But be careful when buying as it appears to come with some and not others, almost like the weapons pack was a later addition.

The great thing to, is the part is easy to find, and you just have to fight against Zoid collectors!

Happy hunting.

Really nice find! :D
I checked quite a few mech lines besides the Transformers but never gave the Zoids a thorough check (probably because the shapes of the other parts were too different to the stuff used on the helmet  ).
Did you get the full Zoid? If so could you post some pictures of the parts? Some of them might have found their ways into other Aliens props as well (the Gateway shuttle for example).

Cheers,
Stefan

Ok, yeah ended up with a few zoids!

Though there are some nice sites about like this one, which have lots of pics:

http://www.zoid.us/

If you click the links on the left, theres great pics of most of the zoids.

For example Spartak (but missing that vital part - you can see it on the box though):

http://www.zoid.us/spartak.htm

And this site (part is here!):

http://zoido.smeat.net/spartak

Let me know if you find anymore parts. I was hoping the two adaptor rings might have been a zoid part but ive had no luck finding it.

Ok, so another discovery!

After searching for pump adaptors, I noticed the newer ones seem to have only one 'toothed' cog at the end.

I did a search on ebay and eventually found this one which had the correct two cogs:

Image

This also had the correct crimp at the same end.

After inspecting the photo some more, i made a nice disocvery on the other end:

Image

You can even see the same seam down the centre of one of the bars.

Heres a quick comparison:

Image

I have no idea what this plastic rings function is on the pump adaptor. I'm wondering if the lower part on the helmet, where the adaptor end sits into is from a pump. Some sort of rubber part that the adaptor would screw into.

So there you go, just need to find another adaptor the same now!

Woah! Another great find, Lewis! :D
If you go on like that we'll get the helmet fully identified in no time.
A few questions: Have you been able to identify the manufacturer/model of the adapter or pump? How long is the tube (e.g. typical ball pump length of about 10cm or longer like on those two hand floor pumps)?
If you want to get a 100% accuracy you might want to look for two 'toothed' cogs and the additional spanner flat that is visible here on the upper connector:
Image
However, as it's only visible in that specific rotation, it might well be omnited.

As I saw your pictures of the tube, one thought crossed my mind:
What if the pressure gauge used on the motion tracker was from the pump that tube is from? Almost all floor pumps seem to have a pressure gauge.....

Cheers,
Stefan

Unfortunately theres no makers mark at all.

The whole thing is 14.5cm, and its from a bike hand pump.

There is a flat area on this adaptor on both sides, shown here, but its not quite right:

Image

I'm thinking that the lower part, which looks like its made of rubber is either the top inside of a hand pump, the seal part that the adaptor screws into. Ive done a very rough picture:

Image

Or even the end valve off an inner tube with the top metal bit cut off. The lower rough area on the prop maybe the part of the inner tube itself:

Has anyone got the following spare parts for an SPH-4:

1. LONG mic boom arm - The one i have is short. The dropship helmet uses a long one.
2. Helmet visor knob assembly or just the plastic part - i cut mine up nicely, and painted it. But it didnt occur to me what position the nut tightens...so now the two arms are on the right when tightened and not the top. Doh!
3. Mic boom swivel assembly where it attaches to the helmet.

Let me know if anyone can help. I can get these from the states but they arent cheap.

Thanks!

lewi

Lewis,

have you tried to place a washer under the visor knob? This might help to correct the position.

Cheers,
Stefan

I made the masters, and had the main greeblies molded locally.

Stephen210 molded all the remaining greeblies.

I sent him the main greeblie molds.

Contact him, he may have a kit to spare.
