I would have emailed him back saying that I worked for the dead guys company and now the money is all ours.

The sad thing is ID theft is on the rise and to date there have been little to no convictions with regards to it.

If ever in doubt open a free checking account and just put as little money in there as you need. Not saying reply to this guy and give him your details because this doozie is mine

The funniest one I ever got was from someone who said they were the teenage daughter of the (deposed former ruler) of (some African state) and begging for help because she and her entire family had been thrown into a concentration camp.



Apparently a concentration camp with internet access.

I get spam emails in my home account all the time- as many as 20 a day!

But this was my hotmail account, which is only displayed on my ezboard profile, and my website.

Guess I'm finally on the map so to speak.

These take advantage of the fact that a check deposited will show up in your account and look like the money is there even though it may take a couple of days for it to actually get routed. Then you wire transfer a portion of it which happens instantly leaving you on the hook for the money.
