The discussion of the Alien series of films and the props used in them is the aim, but if it's got Big Bugs and Big Guns, then they are welcome too!

I've got about a hundred and forty bucks going towards some Spat armor. Only three or four more paychecks to go!

I can't wait. I decided not to go with the helmet package and just get the armor. Since I've already got the headset, why not keep a good thing going? I've already been thinking of "graffiti" for it. I'd like to have "Kickin' ass & takin' names", but I've gotta have something that's... work friendly (they let you dress up for Halloween!). So I'm thinkin' "Peace through superior firepower" on the front, the usual heart/girlfriend name combo and "PWN3D!" on the back. :D

*Sigh* I'm forever cursed with thinking too far ahead.

Its great armor, won't be disappointed.

Indeed. I'm really looking forward to completing my costume and should have it all ready in time for my local con. By Halloween, I should have a shoulder lamp.

Then the circle will be complete! :D

Haha, it'll be complete enough. :D

I picked up a VP70 from Dom, so I've got that covered. As for the belt tool, in time... in time.

I look at co$tuming/prop$ in baby steps. If everybody were able to go out and get every toy right away, you'd never have anything to look forward to/save for. I love talking to people about stuff I don't have, kinda like conversation pieces. Of course I would love to get a motion tracker right now, but the current price puts it outside my priority list. So I'm glad other's have them (ex. I got to use Airborne Mike's MT at All-con).

Besides, if everyone had the same thing there would be no Pulse Rife envy. :shock:

Haha, very true. Once it's put into a perspective like that, saving up makes it that much better.

I did the math on the shower wall, last night. Some prices were guesstimated, but pretty close Most were from memory (I can't believe I remembered the cost of the BDUs. Items in bold and italic font are things I haven't bought, yet. Here's the list:

* Matsucorp Pulse Rifle - $600

* USCM 2PAT BDUs - $178

* Racal RA-150 headset replica - $50

* Spat Armor - $400

* Matsucorp shoulder lamp - $245

* Correct boots - $25

Current total: $828!

Costume completion total: $1,498!!

That's two dollars shy of fifteen hundred bucks! I can't BELIEVE I'll have spent that much money. That's a decent used car! Just so I can wow convention-goers and kids on Halloween.

Still, though... me want amor NOW! :lol:

Yeah, this is my most expensive costume so far, although I'm sure there are worse ones yet to come. Almost half of mine was an airsoft pulse rifle, My Precious. When it's up against my Stormtrooper (w/ROMFX soundboard system) and my BSG Viper Pilot suit (in progress), that's some pretty good competition. But I can't begin to tell you how it was all worth it at my last con. And that wasn't even Dragon Con.

If you get everything but the shoulder lamp, you'll still have a very badass set of gear immediately.

In the interest of saving money, I'm thinking about scratchbuilding my shoulder lamp out of lightweight materials... just to have something before I splurge on the real deal. It won't light up or anything, but that's okay.

Well my good news is come Thursday next week (day before Good Friday),I`ll be ordering my SpatArmour :D The funds are just clearing through the account now.
I`ve already emailed Spats & got shipping sorted & ordering.

Finally I`ll have the armour :D

I`m already coming up with ideas & sketching (using Dom`s template armour pieces) of where to add my own marks :D

I`m going for Black armour & as for uniforms,I`m thinking of Black,Urban,DPM,USCM (MMAs).
I`m redoing my rsin PR all black & maybe modding it up too.

Now my next topic is Patches though I`m going to start a new thread on that :D

Just thought I`d share the good news :D

Yay for Spat armour on the way. It's great when that big old box arrives.

If you want costume madness, there is always the fun of doing a Pred. Three years I have been building mine up and it's still not in a wearable state.

Hmmm, P1 shoulder armour on the way :)

Wow you spent $1400 on your whole costume? I spent that much building my airsoft PR alone! Well, that WAS before cheaper alternatives became available. :)

I don't like to think of the money I've put into my costuming addiction.

Right Mr. Cooper? ;)

Yeah, at my last job there was a guy doing a Halloween Costume. I started helping him plan it out and at one point his response was "Dude, first prize is only $150 dollars. I don't want to put that much into this."

That was when I realize that I had single costume pieces that cost more than twice that.

I figured I'd better spell it just like the band for fear of sounding stupid. Even though that phrase is used to describe oddballs, I couldn't help but think Motley Crue PROBABLY spelled it right (although they, more than likely, purposefully spelled it wrong). Plus "motley crew" just looks odd when typed.

Getting back on topic, I've been thinking about how to tastefully customize my armor without giving it a NASCAR feel and toying around with different ideas.

I've been thinking about putting this guy somewhere.

Well, I decided that while I'm saving up for my spat armor, I'm gonna pick up a cheap alternative (the Thor Aftershock chest protector for Motocross). Just in case I don't have it in time for my local convention, I'd like to have at least SOMETHING.

The cost of the Thor Aftershock won't come out of my armor fund, however. That remains untouched until I add more cash. Here's a pic.

I figure I'll fill any gaps and make the neccessary adjustments to give it a more USCM look. But since they're cheap and I'm not sure if I'll have my Spat armor by August (in time for my local con), this should work fine.

What do ya think?

<span style="font-size:xx-large;]Still taking donations. :D

That`s pretty interesting armour just there DBM.
Maybe either customize it up for a Marine set or even do a Corporate Operator till you have Spat Armour?
Gives you more free articstic licensing.

Yeah, it is pretty interesting. Someone pointed it out as a nice, cost-efficient alternative/temporary armor. I'm definitely gonna be modding it up for a Marine set and will be adding different bits to make it a little more USCM-ish.
