But I personally prefer to take the Tech Manual as further speculation in this instance, relying only on what I can see in the movie as canon.

You owe us all cornbread then, 'cos nowhere in the TM does it mention the ammo having in-flight correction ability. It's the gun itself that is self-aiming.

"carried into battle on a self-aiming stabilised mount"
"the gun is self steering on the mount"
"the arm will self steer the gun barrel so as to boresight the target's centre of mass"
