The discussion of the Alien series of films and the props used in them is the aim, but if it's got Big Bugs and Big Guns, then they are welcome too!

We have many different ID names here on the AL & I'm always curious why people name themselves what they chose. Here's mine.

Airborne Mike

Airborne (I was a paratrooper in the Canadian Army)
Mike (my parents named me that)

What's your story?

Mike

~quick edit~

OK wiseguys with the obvious ID (rank & surname), you can stand down and only WISH you had a clever ID name like us others 8)

mine has two meanings.

Hunterkiller is a song by Fear Factory (one of my favorite bands) and also is the reference to Hunterkiller tanks from terminator. 86 is the year i was born.

Being specifically a fan of the Giger Alien (metal teeth) I show this with my name Metal Alien.

When I first got on the internet back in 97 I tried to just use alien but it was everywhere. Way too many people using that so I got more specific. I've had the domain metalalien.com for years. My old angelfire account has metalalien in the url. Basically going on 13 years now as this.

GI-rene.

GI was slang for US Soldiers in WW2, whom I reenact.
Gyrene was slang for Marines in those days, and I'm actually in the Corps.

My reenacting buddies put the two together.

Well let me see the true origins of the sobriquet (google it!) "Winch" are lost in the mists of time!

As such many myths and legends have appeared in the intervening years as to the genuine source of the epithet (google that too) these include;

1. That my middle name is Winchester.
2. That for a time my occupation was that of a Winchman on a Search & Rescue Helicopter.
3. That I'm a marksman of some note and that my chosen weapon manufacturer/calibre are Winchester/.308" Winchester.

Of course it could be that more than one of the above is true or even none of them! Those who need to know already know and are very tight lipped. Those who profess to know simply confirm their ignorance of the truth by their loquaciousness! There is even a scurrilous rumour in circulation that there is a connection between the function of the machine called a Winch and the time honoured British tradition of "winding people up"! Sadly the Official Secrets Act precludes me from discussing this matter further! Except to say that Winch is far more than just a Nom de Net I do answer to it in the Real World too!

This thread does however remind me of an amusing story about a young Native American boy who asks his father how Native American children are named at birth. His father replies "Well my son when the child is born the father runs from the teepee and the first thing he sees is what he names his child for, but why do you ask this question my son, Two Dogs F%^king?"

Didn't we already have a thread like this?

Spacehunter was apparently taken and Wolff sounded a bit cliched and pretentious, so...

As an NCO I was pretty hard-going on my cadets. I was a harsh taskmaster and they called me such. This info found it's way to my CSM in the Army and I was suddenly under scrutiny to see if my standards slipped.

The double T at the beginning made it a unique identifier for my Yahoo email. If you really must know, the first T stands for 'The'.

Probably, but trying to find it may prove difficult as the title may be one of many things. :)

Maybe one such thread could be stickied, then even the newbies can post in there? 8)

I was/am in a LARP of about 250 people called Darkon.

My Name in the Group was Tarim, and I became King.

No longer King but have been using the name for so long I've just kept it

Why I'm called PVB.

As part of my previous local authority/council work duties, I enforced various street regulations, one of which was noting vehicles which parked on main road grass verges(medians). These verges have "Do not park on grass verges" signs on them.

On one occasion, I spotted a large van parked completely on such a verge.

After I took a photo of the vehicle, the driver asked why.

When I pointed to the sign and told him that his employers may receive a bill for the repair of the verge, he called me.....

a Petty Vindictive Bastard!

When I later told my colleagues of this, they laughed, agreed with him, and the nickname stuck! :D

Back when I frequented Newgrounds.com, I went by fatass joe. Cause im a fatass and joe just came to mind.

When I went to get my own url, it turns out one of the permutations of that name is a fairly hardcore porn site.

Cue 20 minutes of clicking on a random name generator, and we get Boltrig.

My screen name origin is pretty lame. It's the name of an ancient seabed on Mars called Chryse Planetia. I took it during a time when I was really into studying the Red Planet.

Well, once upon a time, my grandfarther had the idea... to RAISE AN ARMY OF SUPERMEN!

But then he married my Grandmother who's mixed European bloodline diluted that 100% pure scandinavian stock into the mutt
I became today. :)

Oh, what was the question again?
