The discussion of the Alien series of films and the props used in them is the aim, but if it's got Big Bugs and Big Guns, then they are welcome too!

I have one of those, but I don't know if it can be modded to have a moving mouth. It's made of resin...not sure if it would hold up under much stress.

Hi Bri.

There is indeed a kit of the original HRG head in existence, though it is not an official release. Rather, more of a bootleg.

Lucas Francis Studios produced this head using original Fox moulds for Sideshow Collectables for the Hollywood Collectors Gallery. Sideshow also
have a 'Giger edition' head that also utilises the aforementioned moulds.

Lucas Francis Studios made extra heads from these moulds which are the kits you refer to, but these were few in number. I saw them selling a dome piece on Ebay once but they were out of the rest of the kit and were not able to sell anymore due to their licensing agreement with Sideshow. So they're quite rare in kit form.

I would drop LFS an email, perhaps they can help. I did express an interest in one of these kits again a year or so back, but at that time there were still none available.

Bruce Hansing uses this kit to produce Giger style heads for the Prop Store of London, though I'm not keen on the finish he applies to the underside of the head. You could ask Prop Store if they could procure you the kit, but I seriously doubt you would have any joy there.

Good luck and keep us posted if you manage to get your hands on one!

A

Hey Andrew,

Thanks for replying. I tried out the Prop Store London website and saw the Alien head. Its certainly impressive! I might phone up Bruce and make some enquiries for a raw cast of the head if possible. If push comes to shove - ill end up sculpting one myself! I'll use my Alien'S' head as reference!

I'll keep on trying and let you know how I get on!

Cheers!

Expensive? Hell yes, a bit too expensive if you ask me, but if you want it, it's what you have to pay.

I too tried contacting Paul Francis (about 6 months ago) about getting one of those that he made years ago, but he told me he has long since sold out of them.

If you want one, you'll have to PM a member named Brundlefly (Frank Cerney) over on the RPF. He doesn't answer his emails.
Prepare yourself for sticker shock.

 Post subject: Alien Heads Available
PostPosted: Sun Jan 28, 2007 3:03 am
Hi,
My name is Phillip and I was directed to this forum and thread from someone who purchased one of the alien head kits I was selling on Ebay.
My Ebay username is Star_Trekker.

These heads were mastered directly out of a Stan Winston mold. This was the same base head that Paul Francis used to make the sideshow master. His heads were done in an epoxy resin and foam filled and required quite a bit of cleanup. These heads are hollow cast in resin and can be ready for paint in a couple of hours.
The only thing that I did to the master was clean up the seam line and add a slot to the bottom of the upper pallet so the lower jaw will fit right into place. The original pulls out of the Winston mold had battle damage on the hoses and none of that has been cleaned up for this piece.
The vac buck for the domes is the same one that was used to make the sideshow prototypes and supposedly came from SW Studios. I purchased that from a plastics house in LA. They were probably the ones who were vac forming the domes for the kit Francis sold, I don't know.

Anyway, I am currently out of stock on kits awaiting new domes from the vac former. These kits weigh 14 pounds packed and are in an oversize box with a total girth of 96 inches. Box size is 14x14x40.

I had several of these that I had made that I sold on Ebay from XXX.XX + shipping.

I will need to get XXX.XX shipped for the new run and will hold them at that as long as the mold holds out. I will not remold this kit so when the mold is gone, that's it. They should be ready for shipping within a week.

It's a 5 piece kit consisting of the head, dome, lower jaw, upper teeth and inner teeth/tounge.

Mods, if it's inappropriate to post this in the forum, please let me know or just move this post.

Edit: Edited pricing info out because this is an unlicensed item run. Looks like a nice piece though. Please contact him for more information.

-Russ

Thanks,

Phillip

Edit-
Here are some pics of the kit, the dome is untrimmed and just sitting on top of the head.
