The discussion of the Alien series of films and the props used in them is the aim, but if it's got Big Bugs and Big Guns, then they are welcome too!

Con passes are on sale now at the website.
The later you leave it the higher the price gets.

I think they're about $60 until February if I remember correctly.

All the travel details can be found on the site.
As for a room location....you pick the hotel......when you check in depends on where the room is ;)

Pre-reg is $60 until 11/13/09, then it goes up to $70 after a time, then $80 and so forth till it costs $100 at the door.

But those are the elevators in the main tower.

I always reserve a room in the International Tower off to the side....its bliss!!!
But of course those go first!!

How do you reserve there? I recall somewhere someone saying that it's "first come, first serve" type stuff and that they give you a room when you show up, and if you get in the tower... great... if not... you're too late or something.

Any truth to this?

They say its first come first served.
But in 2008 Cherie and I were the first ones to arrive at the hotel (about 5am Thursday) and they said it was all booked.
I then looked around at an empty lobby at about 5am in the morning and asked 'by who?'
I was told that the convention had booked out the rooms and they'd all been requested.
My response was 'I know, I'm one of them'.

They put us in a room in the main tower until the manager arrived on duty. We were then switched to the international tower no questions asked.

So I'd recommend requesting it when you book and then getting there early....very early.
But stand your ground on the 'first come first served'.

I'm in the same boat as a lot of you. I can't afford to commit to next year yet. The only thing I liked about the Hyatt was it was the same location as the fan table.

money's tight but i do everything i can as soon as i can , i booked the hilton , which takes 1 night out right away so a share of the room is paid for , and if the others back out then its the motel 6 ,and thats almost half the hotel right there , i have money set aside for plane tickets , but cant book them for another three weeks  , then its con ticks , which i want to get soon , so i can have almost no excuse not to go next year . luckily someone scratched up my rear quarter panel on my truck , which insurance gave me 650 to fix , but i have all the tools ,plus some of the skill to do it myself , all i had to buy was paint and reducer 49 bucks , so that takes care of the plane ticks

Nightwitch made cornbread. I volunteer her. (Sorry Heidi :D )

And I agree. It's getting to be a pain in the rear to have to find a room or roommates. Practically an all year process.

Still I have October 1st on my calendar and my alarm set .......

We're always in town by Weds. We can run by and pick up some cornbread somewhere. I'm sure Derek knows where to get some! :D

I hear ya about roommates bro! It gets tricky! We've got a suite at the Hyatt reserved right now. Not sure if we'll hop over to the Marriott or not. This past DCon, we had 7 to room, with 1 king size bed. It was pretty damn tight. So, we've got the suite, which breaking down by "couples" or "sets of two", about $525+tax per pair. Not too bad, and with plenty of elbow room.

We've got two Marines tenatively confirmed for one set, and the other two spots we're twisting in the wind, waiting for confirmation from a pair of non-Marines. Good folks, just not Marines. :delta:

Just ordered a membership. So much stuff to do. I have to finish my armor, finish my PR from Matt (upgrading with real SPAS cage and electroics), finish my MT (need kango case), finish my Alien head, and 3 other costumes. Did not get to go last year but planning to for 2010.

1 x Dragon*Con Membership - 2010 ($60) (DCM2010-60) = $60.00

Thanks!

Greg

Like Hal, I'll be making the trip up to Atlanta. I should have a passable DropShip Uniform by then - but don't be surprised to see me running around in my other flightsuits.

I can also make some cornbread and bring it up, or rather my Grandmother can. You know how we Georgia folks are about cornbread.

That wouldn't be screen accurate now would it? :P

Cracklin Bread is wonderful warm . . so we'd need a microwave if I did, in fact, bring some.
