The discussion of the Alien series of films and the props used in them is the aim, but if it's got Big Bugs and Big Guns, then they are welcome too!

Hi Dom,

Sorry for the confusion on the UKCM site. I'll help clarify a couple of things:

Service Numbers:

Mainly I took the existing services numbers of UKCM members that were listed on the USCM charter. The rest were issued before the NSC event in July and were done in a rush in order to get them done for the event. We never intended to cut you out of the loop.

Ideally I would like UKCM members to get their Service Numbers from you so they are coherent across all the sites.

Ranks:

We decided that early on that all UKCM members start as Pvt. This gives everyone a level playing field. We do promotions mainly to encourage members to join in the fun or as rewards for various things (as Bazfish how he made PFC! lol). Otherwise everyone rushes in as a sgt or cpl or Lnt, and all order goes out the window lol.

Sorry for the trouble Dom.

No trouble pal... I don't hold a monopoly on generating the service numbers... in fact my registry can serve as a "Is It Available?" list... either you ask me to generate one or you make your own, but first making sure that the one you'd like isn't already taken.

The list can be easily obtained here.

Yes, but the Colonial Marines use Army Ranks, not Marines. For all ranks go here:

Thanks for the confirmation of your service number Russ... but I hate to rain on your parade pal, but the USCM svc no's suffix have very little to do with rank abbreviations. I've already barked up that tree and it just doesn't match. Besides, why would a service number change with your promotion?

Dom, I know what you are saying, and have read all those references too, but that is not what I was talking about. I was talking about the letter reference, not the "E#". Some of the ranks only have 2 letters, while others have 3. I was referencing the 3 letter, not the #s.

I think he is refering to the rank column, not the Service Number. For example you have Gunnery Sargent and Master Gunnery Sargent listed which are Marine Ranks. Don't know if he thinks you issue rank or not.

Sorry if I have confused you in any way. In reality, I guess it doesn't really matter anyway. I think you are doing a great job with the corp, in issuance of service numbers. Stay frosty.

Thanks for the kind words... If what you are referring to is what WG said, then yes, true. The USCM ranks used in the film were Army ranks, and this is what I follow... BUT... I don't refuse applicant's request for Marine ranks such as GySgt... I'm not out to cause friction.

I leave it to the individual members to make this discovery themselves and request a correction.

I had no idea they were using Army ranks in the film. Guess that explains why I never saw "GySgt." or anything. All I need to know is that there are, in fact, Corporals in both the Marines and the Army. So I'm sound as a pound. :D

Marines,

I'm implementing a new system for the service number registry. Something I should've done way back in 2004 when I first started this. Date of first combat drop. This will keep track of when the first time your first put on your armour (regardless of if it was at a convention or not). This will keep a better record of your achievements as a Colonial Marine, and will also automatically advise me of when you qualify for the Colonial Marine Decoration (long service ribbon).

Also, please take a look at your entry to see if it is in need of a clean-up (rank or location change). http://forum.alienslegacy.com/viewtopic.php?f=15&t=5925

Information can be posted here, or can be sent to me by PM for. If we are friends on Facebook, you may also send me the information by FB Messenger.

Thanks again for your cooperation in helping the growth of the service number registry. We currently have 637 registered service numbers.
