The discussion of the Alien series of films and the props used in them is the aim, but if it's got Big Bugs and Big Guns, then they are welcome too!

Just found a 'Ski costume which was auctioned. Wondered if anyone knew aught about the red cross depicted here:

BTW - This has already been sold and is no longer a live auction ;)

I have a question.. in the picture Ski has his sleeves rolled up. Now I don't know if any of you have tried to roll them up but unless you cut them off it an't happen. So would this have been a back up set of BDU's that were not worn?

You can roll them up if you do it right ( Or ask Fraz or Azriel to ).

Yes, But in the picture of him wearing it the "Roll" is to small to be the whole sleeve. that is what I was getting at.

Been there, done that.
Actually, it tends to happen more by accident with me.

Ain't all that hard.
The proper way is to use the width and rigidity of the shirt cuff. You tend to end up with a decent 3-finger width roll.

'Ski has a two-finger roll, possibly because it's tighter and shows off his manly muscles... which is what happens when you have a woman (Emma Porteus) as costume designer!!

I'm gonna ignore all possible mis-interpretation of that line and instead just reiterate that the girlies probably like it.

Besides, have you seen the size of Trevor's hands?
He'd only need two fingers to get the right cuff-roll!!

Shake his hand - It'll make sense then!!

BTW, they also had one of Bill Paxton's Hudson BDUs (again, already sold) here:

The trousers look a bit like flares!!

You guys are all talking about rolling your sleeves up- some of us say it is nearly impossible unless you cut the sleeves short... or have pre-teenager sized arms (which I certainly don't! :P ).

The auction with Bill Paxton's bdus clearly shows that the sleeves have been shortened.

My question to all those who claim it possible to roll the sleeves halfway up your biceps- are you talking about a standard set of military issue bdus, or an actual set of reproduction USCM bdus?

Kevin

I've already done it with my MAA 3pat BDUs.
Rolled the sleeves without putting them on first to check the length

I have a set of 2PAT bdus myself.

There is no way on this planet that the cuff of my 2PATs will fit above my elbow; the circumference is just too small.

Obviously if your desert DPMs are too big on you the sleeve is going to be big enough to fit over your bicep when rolled up.

The point I'm making is that we are not talking about any shirt. I can roll the sleeves up on a set of US Marine Woodland bdus, DPM, or a Canadian Garrision jacket- I can't with my 2PAT bdus.

Okay.. Let's see some picture of your USCM BDU's rolled up like Ski (full sleeve) with a small tight roll high above the elbow.
