Is there anyone out there offering a kit of some sort? I'd really like one.

I have one of Global Uplink's trackers, finally got the time to work on it. Compairing Global Uplink's and other fan made and originals, they did a pretty good job on making it, some things are off like the Slide viewer is WAAAY too big. Mine needs a lot of prep work to get it workable, it almost looks like they clayed up the master quickly and dunked it into silicone, in some of the inner corners, looks like clay was just pushed in and not smoothed out.... friggen' annoying to sand that area.

It'll work till I get the rest of the real parts for my other one! :P

I'll post some pix soon.

I'm assuming that is the Ebay seller Global_Uplink who has recently added the marine helmet kit to his lineup?

The prices are steep on this web page....better to wait till he posts em on ebay. He does every so often.

:P  yeah I tend to use funky avatars... that's my latest haha

Here's some real crappy pix of my Global Uplink Motion Tracker, I'm in the process of filling holes...sanding...priming...sanding...etc... CA glue and Baking soda are my friends!!!

This is the biggest problem areas of the body, this area needs to be scratched built since it was way too thin- the MT is hallow cast. I had to pour more resin into it to give it more strength. The back of the handle will need to be plugged, I filled it with resin.

The built up one looks ridiculous for the price you're paying.

What is that colour!?! Mottled puke green?

I'm sure the majority of us (if not every last one of us) could do a better job with the raw kit!

It is cute that they throw in a little egg with it.

Wonder how much they would charge for shipping?

I have to say, after buying the original source parts to build my own, his version doesn't look all that much off. The main body alone looks very correct, and would be well worth the $110 USD to build off of. He even seems to have the correct key pad block....very surprising. Now the key board itself....that's not so good.

A kit is one option and like DSB say’s it doesn’t look too bad for the money. Have you considered building up from found parts ?

Alex has the Global Uplink MT I built - I'm sure the viewer wasn't as big as that on the one I made! And the build-up is terrible! Where the hell did they get those colours from? And the keypad is so far out!

(And I've got to ask - what do you use the baking soda for?)

$110 is only £66 - not bad really for the kit - postage as far as I remember was $25, Global uplink always wanted paying in $ even though they are in the UK.

Give the guy the special handshake, a wink and a nudge, and he'll do you a better deal. Last I spoke to him, He offered me it for £35 + p&p. Not sure if he still woukd do.

Not bad except for thr Hama viewer, but of course they are pretty easy to get, so that is not so bad.

I guess I will have to just be content with my Deck 36 one....;)

Oh, and before any newer members ask, the D36 version is LONG out of production and I am pretty sure the few of us who got them will not be letting them go....

2004 will be a good year.

Just a bit of back-story for the record:

Global Uplink is run by Lance-Adam Croft (formerly Lawrence Nathan) who ran the 'Fiction & Fantasy Models' store and mail-order service back in the 1990's in North London.

The Tracker that's (still) on my website (who said 'update' just then?!) is a modified Fiction & Fantasy kit.

The F&F trackers are casts from a tracker that was commissioned by Lawrence Nathan after Aliens was released. According to Terry Reed, who built the original MT's, it was built by someone else but under his direction.

Before it got cast it was rented from Lawrence Nathan to photograph for inclusion in the Colonial Marines Technical Manual. It was later offered for sale as an original prop used by Sigourney Weaver.

The hardest part is getting the drill body. most of the other parts can be found fairly easy. I still need to start on my tracker, but it will be all reall parts except the widget and transformer box, which i bought resin copies off from a boardmember. I have spend around 200 - 250 bucks sofar, and was lucky enough to find the drill for only 50 UK Pounds.

That's funny - Lance Adam Croft implied that he was a 'struggling student' aged about 19. I assume that's not entirely true then. ;)

Master Replicas also made an officially licensed Aliens Motion Tracker, search eBay for keywords "Motion Tracker" and/or "Master Replicas" and you should be able to find one.
