Volunteer Borg?

Those that know me will know I'm a professional prosthetic make up artist. I want to do a prosthetic make up demo on both days of the event. Bit of a sideshow attraction.

I'm after a couple of guys, four tops (no Harry, not THE Four Tops), who wouldn't mind playing Borg drones and scaring kids for charity.


I'll provide full costume, armour, props and make up Just need to bring your own black athletic shoes.

The only proviso is that the volunteers must have either shaved heads or very, very short hair. It'll save about an hour each on the make up jobs if I don't have to apply bald caps.

Thanks mate,
You were first choice for a Borg, but Harry pointed out that you already have a lot on, so I didn't ask.

The Borg will be fun. I chose them because the prosthetics can be generic. We don't have the budget to custom make for an individual.

I'll either use some futuristic fibreglass armour I made for a movie many years ago, or I'll adapt skater or motocross armour. I found a good place for lycra dive skins to go underneath.

Make up should only take an hour or so.

No volunteers?

Well I would, its just trying to decide whether I can risk a really short hair cut.....

I’ve had the pleasure of witnessing Karl’s talent and I’m sure the finished Borg will look great even with limited budget.

You guys really should consider going for it.

Just need to get some final painting touches done. I'm going to be using an airbrush for some finer detailing. Then it's just a matter of making some arm peices for the other suit. Nearly there! By the way, you can see some of my suit in my banner image below.

This one goes out to Harry and Jez or whoever is organising this event (sorry, been away and not kept up with the posts). Jez will know I have the same Alien outfit as him, now nearing completion, plus I have some older Alien war remnants which I'm polishing up as a second suit. So that means there will be two more Aliens available in the form of my brother and I, if indeed any more bugs are desirable! And since the suits are quite hot to wear, I would be happy for anyone else to wear said suits on the day for a spell. Hey, what fun!

By the way, if I can find someone else to wear the suits I could film the event. Is anyone doing this already? I am a professional filmmaker, I make documentaries, rock video's, etc. Would be happy to get some kit for the day and make a doco.

Documenting the day is a fantastic idea! Can you do it for nothing though? I was going to do it but I'd have to hire the cameras and hire & accomodate a crew.

Andrew, the more Alien Warriors the better, thanks for offering to let someone wear your spare suit. One thing I was worried about was not having enough.

Hi peeps.
Yes Harry, I can do it for nowt, I can get a camera very cheap, I'll get a Sony Z1 which is HD, so should get some nice images. Have some lights/fog so will bring a few of those and maybe do a cool set piece with aliens and marines if there is time for that sort of thing. But certainly will be able to record a film of the day. Happy to cover the expenses, would just need 2 or 3 passes for the event if poss.
I'll check and see the bug costumes for size, post that info later.
Can anyone recommend a b&b locally?

Andrew, a lot of us will be staying in the Local Holiday Inn Leicester. We got a great deal last time when we did the last Star Wars weekend at the NSC. I'll keep you posted.

I think the filmign is a great idea.

I did have one thought, why not take the camera on one of the Alien Encounter tours, to show it from the punters perspective? I wish I could have done that when I went to Alien War in London, just to show people what it was like.

Besides, it nice to get shots of people reactions! (I can't help it, i'm the sort of person who laughs when people fall over)
